First there were snatch thieves, loan sharks, abductions and now gang rapes. It is very depressing to wake up to news of girls being gang raped everyday. It is sick. There are simply no more good news that you can read in the paper anymore.

2 weeks ago, a 18 year old factory girl waiting for her boyfriend to fetch her in Megamall (or better known as Pacific to us) at 11pm was pulled into a car by 4 men. She was driven to Cheruk Tokun, dragged into the jungle, where another 4-5 men were waiting. After that they left the poor girl alone and only to return a while later to repeat their beastly acts..

Yesterday, while 2 girls were double dating with their boyfriends on a beach at 2.15am. They were approached by 2 men posing as policemen demanding their ICs and taken to a secluded area where another 7 accomplices were waiting. In order for them to get their ICs back, they had to have sex with the men. One of the girls, 17 years old told them she was underaged and the men turned themselves upon the other poor girl.. This happened in Malacca.

Today in TheStar, a couple was waylaid by 4 motorists in Pasir Gudang 9.15pm yesterday at knife-point. The girl was gang raped in front of the boyfriend, who was beaten up when he gave a fight.

Sigh. Imagine the impact upon the lives of the victims, and their boyfriends. Scarred for life. Guilty and regretfull for being unable to protect their own girlfriends.. Now I feel that living in Malaysia is no longer safe, except when I am in the office or at home. Guys and girls out there, take care of yourself ok. Some measurements that I think everyone should have:

• DO NOT date in any secluded areas at night eg. beach, parks
• DO NOT believe anyone saying they are the police unless they show their IDs
• EVEN if they are police, DO NOT let them take your female friends away
• try NOT to be alone at anytime, choose to wait at a crowdy area

I hope there are no more such news tomorrow..
