St Anne’s Church II : Church Interior
Jul 28th
I wanted to add this entry following my last post about [tag]St Anne’s Church[/tag] [tag]Life Sized Statues[/tag] few days ago but was just too busy. Hope you enjoy the photos!

This is the entrance to the new church, it is really majestic. I am not a [tag]Christian[/tag].. so I have absolutely no idea what is being portrayed on the wall.

An angel statue holding to a flower, placed at both sides of the main entrance, there is a pair of them.

Upon entering the church, look at the amazing roof architecture.. the light creates a very peaceful ambience. Notice the amount of fans around? A lot leh..

Extra shots of the surroundings.

A statue of St Michaals defeating a devil, good will always triumph over evil ![]()

This is the old church, there were more people praying here actually. There are more photos (featuring other buildings and surroundings) I would like to share, which will be added in the third part of St Anne’s Church : Church Exterior.
Seafood @ Bukit Tambun
Jul 25th
Needless to say, anyone who goes to Bukit Tambun for the [tag]seafood[/tag]. Ghee Seng Seafood Restaurant is situated beside a river, diagonally opposite the state’s [tag]Batu Kawan[/tag] Stadium.
Fried Mee Tiao – RM 7. No comment, tastes normal. So far I haven’t found any restaurant that can fry a very nice plate of mee tiao.. if you know any, leave a message
Steamed Mini Octopus – RM 8. They are tasteless, you need to dip them into the Thai chilli sauce to really enjoy it.
Fried Oyster – RM 8. I have had better lol, oysters given were ridiculously little.
Siao Bai Cai – RM 6. We actually had 2 plates of this because a stupid fly dropped into our first one. The problem with eating here in Ghee Seng is the big amount of annoying flies. You will be too busy chasing them away that you cannot really enjoy your meal in peace.
Satay – RM 9 (15 sticks) The satay was very nice, special too because they are barbecued together with the peanut sauce.
Fried Soft Shell Crab – RM 16.
Sweet and Sour Crab – RM 20 (3 flower crabs) This is the highlight of our meal, the nicest one too. The crabs were very fresh (they were still alive before being cook) It didn’t really tasted like how it was described, it was pretty spicy lol.
Fried Buns that come with the Sweet Sour Crab, to dip in the gravy. Actually, if not for the flies, this would be one of my favorite seafood restaurant in [tag]Bukit Tambun[/tag].
Durian Attack!!
Jul 23rd
It’s the [tag]durian[/tag] season yo, my family has been eating it non-stop since like a month ago. When I was young I didn’t like it, in fact I feel that the people who liked this fruit must be a freak or someting lol. But dunno what struck me suddenly, I fell in love in this heavenly fruit. I remembered I craved for durian so badly that Shang Jun and I went to buy in Dengkil on a motorbike. We bought 2 sacks of durians and I had to carry it on my thigh with both hands, really crazy. When we reached home, Wen Fong and Kheng Kait would quickly hide into their rooms, lol. Ahh.. those MMU days..
So yesterday my parents went on a durian shopping spree in BM and Perai. They bought this special variation of the fruit called “Udang Merah” that cost RM50, for 2!!
The flesh was orangish, very tender and juicy. In total 2 druians had 24-25 fruits in them, so 1 fruit alone cost RM2!! That’s already the price for a durian kampung!
They filled up this 1.5L ice-cream container nicely
We also bought 6 durian kampung for RM15. I personally prefer this variation the most, it’s the cheapest around too.
St Anne’s Church I : Life Sized Statues
Jul 22nd
[tag]St Anne’s Church[/tag] [tag]Bukit Mertajam[/tag] had a face lift about 1-2 years ago.. The existing church was given a new coat of paint and a souvenir shop as well as a security office were built. One of the interesting addition were the 15 life sized statues that tell the story of [tag]Jesus[/tag] when he was crucified. The statues cost RM600,000 and are really life sized. The process of looking for all the statues was quite fun, it felt like a treasure hunt.

1. I am condemned to death

2. I am made to carry my cross

3. I fall the first time

4. I meet my sorrowful mother

5. Simon is forced to carry my cross

6. Veronica wipes my face

7. I fall the second time

8. I meet the wailing women of Jurusalem

9. I fall the third time

10. I am stripped off my clothes

11. I am nailed to the cross

12. I die on the cross

13. I am taken down from the cross

14. My body is put in a tomb

15. I am the Resurrection and the life
There you have it, all 15 [tag]life sized statues[/tag] featured in St Anne’s church. It was a really nice visit after so long (it’s been around 4-5 years since I last went) Quite happy also knowing that Bukit Mertajam has a new landmark now ![]()
