Malaysia Food Blog, Malaysia Travel Blog

BM Kia says..
As I read through my blog posts for 2008, I found most of them are restaurant related reviews. I think this is deviating from my original purpose of food blogging, which is to discover and promote local foods, especially hawker fares. If not, it wouldn't be fit to be called "Malaysia Food Blog" So, my main aim of blogging for year 2009 would be to continue to do what I actually enjoyed the most - to travel, discover and promote cheap and tasty food.

Langkawi
After we settled down, we immediately set out. Bringing along only a small map given by Mr.Che Di we drove to the latest attraction in Langkawi Island, cable car ride to Gunung Mat Cincang. The cable car is located in Oriental Village - 东方村庄. Besides serving as an entrance to the cable car, Oriental Village also provides a lot of shopping and dining options as well as a holiday resort.

Langkawi

Admission fee to Langkawi Cable Car is at a low RM15 per pax and the cable cars arrive very fast. Hence, waiting time is minimal. Initially we were quite worried that the visibility on the hill top would be poor. This was due to the earlier rain and a sticky on the ticket counter stating that weather condition could be cloudy. Luckily when we reached the top, the weather was clear and the visibility excellent! These are some interesting facts regarding the cable car,

Langkawi

Also located inside the Oriental Village, the clear bubble shaped cable car takes the 2.2km ride up the mountainside on a 42 degree incline. Gunung Macincang at 708 metres offers a spectacular view. Starting from about sea level, the Cable Car rises from about sea level to an altitude of over 700 metres. Along the near vertical lift, tourists are presented with the towering cliff face named ‘Matahari Face’.

The cable car has the longest suspension in the world between two stations. It was built without constructing any roads through the jungle.

Besides arriving fast, the cable cars move fast too! It takes only around 10-20 minutes to reach the top station. We were too busy taking pictures of the beaufitul scenery around us that we hoped the ride would be longer lol.

Langkawi

This is what we saw in the cable car : beautiful sea, clear blue sky and lush green hills. Words cannot describe the scenery here so I will let the photos do all the talking :)

Langkawi
The famous Seven Wells / Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is also visible from the ride. According to legend, fairies used to come down to the waterfall to bathe and frolic. Oooo..

There are so many names for this bridge : Suspension Bridge / Sky Bridge / Hanging Bridge.

An alternate view of the bridge.
Langkawi
There are 2 viewing platforms on the top station, with their respective heights at 710m and 690m (if I remember correctly) The platforms provide views of the seas and islands of Langkawi Island, even the neighbouring Thailand to the north! You will see more of islands and seas on this platform.
Langkawi
This is the higher platform. It provides more views on hills and the Hanging Bridge.

Took a nice photo with the bridge as background :)

The weather was too clear that our eyes cannot take the sunshine, it was just too hard to keep our eyes opened while taking photos lol. So it is recommended you bring a pair of sunglasses along :) We stayed here for more than 2 hours before getting down.
