I have asked a colleague of mine to recommend me a nice beach in Langkawi and his answer was Tanjung Rhu. I believed him because he grew up in Alor Setar and frequented Langkawi in his childhood (of course I did some research first too :P)
Pantai Tanjung Rhu
Located near the top of northeast corner of Langkawi, Pantai Tanjung Rhu is much more secluded and exclusive. Famous for its beautiful beaches with emerald green waters Pantai Tanjung Rhu is one of those places you go when you want to get away from it all. For those staying in this area there are several tourist attractions to visit.
Our main reason coming here is to see the sunset and hopefully can take some nice photos too. There were not many people at the beach when we reached there at 7.15pm, a good thing actually. Most shops along the beach have either closed, or starting to close. Tanjung Rhu beach is by far the cleanest beach I have visited and the beach sand stretches quite far from the land.
We have always wanted to take artistic photos like this one lol
The sunset in Tanjung Rhu is just plain beautiful… not to be missed in Langkawi.
After that we went to eat dinner in Kuah Town, our first proper meal for the entire day.. Eating in Langkawi can be a problem because most of the food here are of Malay style. Like many other Chinese restaurants, Rootian 露天 Restaurant was full too. It took them 45 minutes to finally serve us.
Everything we had that night was excellent, tastes even nicer too because we were hungry like hell lol. Claypot Seafood @ RM26, quite expensive due to the ingredients used. It has sea cucumber, mushroom and sea asparagus.
Belacan Kangkung @ RM6
The best deal of our dinner - Gong Bou Mantis Shrimp, 宫?濑尿虾 at RM8 only! The shrimp meats are very crunchy, so nice. The portion was very generous that we ended up taking away the rest back to our motel as supper. If you don’t mind waiting, this restaurant is really recommended because of its cheap and nice food.
