Malaysia Food Blog, Malaysia Travel Blog

BM Kia says..
As I read through my blog posts for 2008, I found most of them are restaurant related reviews. I think this is deviating from my original purpose of food blogging, which is to discover and promote local foods, especially hawker fares. If not, it wouldn't be fit to be called "Malaysia Food Blog" So, my main aim of blogging for year 2009 would be to continue to do what I actually enjoyed the most - to travel, discover and promote cheap and tasty food.

Langkawi Trip Part X : Pelangi Beach Resort

Continued from Langkawi Trip Part IX : Island Hopping

After returning from the tiring Island Hopping trip, we had lunch in “Rasa” Restaurant located along Pantai Cenang.

Langkawi

“Rasa” is a coffee house themed restaurant serving both Western and Eastern food. We surveyed the area for food before deciding to dine here. Other restaurants were either serving Malay food or too pricey. It’s not like we are against Malay food, just that we didn’t feel like having nasi lemak for lunch. “Rasa” restaurant’s menu is extensive and descriptive, with over 30-40 dishes available.

Langkawi

Siang Leng had a nice cool pineapple juice while I went for a glass of iced coffee to freshen up myself. The pineapple juice - RM3.50 was good, really freshly made but the iced coffee - RM2.50 tasted a bit diluted, not enough Nescafe lol.

Langkawi

Our desserts came early lol, I don’t know why but some restaurants like to serve dessert before the main course. Double Trouble, RM3.50 is 2 scoops of ice cream on top of fresh cut fruits. Mango Pudding - RM3.50 tasted OK, nothing special..

Langkawi

Nasi Goreng Nelayan, RM10 is actually equivalent to seafood fried rice. Its description in the menu of the various seafood ingredients made me ordered it. Although the prawns were given were quite big.. I felt the amount of seafood in the fried rice was too little.. Anyway it tasted good, especially when accompanied with the sweet-sour sauce given.

Langkawi

Siang Leng ordered one of Rasa’s signature dish, the Nasi Lemak Special. Again, the ingredients’ proportion was not satisfactory for its price - RM8.

Langkawi

Also located along Pantai Cenang is Pelangi Beach Resort, a 5 star hotel touted to be one of the best resort in Langkawi (and world too?) I noticed that almost 80% of the guests here are foreign tourists! It has a big beautiful swimming pool, with a bar in the center.

Pelangi, a Malay word which means Rainbow is full of friendly charm and gentle hospitality, where the warmth of the sun and radiance of lush tropical gardens mingle with romantic nights. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the resort is synonymous with Langkawi’s own laid back personality, making this a wholesome and splendid location for family holidays, honeymooners, the golden citizens as well as seasoned business traveller. Set on 30 acres of of award winning landscaped gardens, beside white sandy beaches, this is the resort for a carefree getaway.

Langkawi

Siang Leng stayed here with her family a few years back, lucky her :P

Langkawi

Our motel and Pelangi Beach Resort shared the same beach along Pantai Cenang. The beach was almost empty and activities are non-existant unlike beaches in Batu Ferringhi..

Langkawi

Tables and chairs are provided beside the beach to let guests relax and enjoy the sun.

Langkawi

Coconut trees are plenty here, creating a tropical feel.. A night’s stay in Pelangi Beach Resort costs around RM500-600.. I wish I could afford that one day lol.
