Malaysia Food Blog, Malaysia Travel Blog

BM Kia says..
As I read through my blog posts for 2008, I found most of them are restaurant related reviews. I think this is deviating from my original purpose of food blogging, which is to discover and promote local foods, especially hawker fares. If not, it wouldn't be fit to be called "Malaysia Food Blog" So, my main aim of blogging for year 2009 would be to continue to do what I actually enjoyed the most - to travel, discover and promote cheap and tasty food.

Taiping Lake Garden

Being one of the main attractions in Perak, Taiping Lake Garden had been on my travel list for a while. The scenery at the lake is beautiful even by just looking at its photos online.

As one of the many firsts in Taiping, the Taiping Lake Garden has been operational since 1880. It was built on an old mining land and today plays host to a variety of plants, flowers, trees, birds and a dazzling variety of insects. The old mining pool has become the crown jewel - the lake.

The way these trees grow is just.. unbelieveable. The branches can recline so nicely over the road that the leaves can touch the lake’s water.

This is a pathway leading to the center of the lake.

Along the way, I saw this unique looking bald tree so I decided to take a photo of it :P

Taiping Lake Garden is a popular spot for families to have an evening stroll and jog around. There are water activities here as well like boat peddling and lake tour on speed boats.

Most of us know that this beautiful park was once a tin mine. And according to Wikipedia, Kapitan Chung Thye Phin who was a wealthy Chinese tin miner donated it to the Perak State Government. Hmm.. I am not sure about this because Wikipedia is not a very reliable source of information.

I personally feel that everyone should visit this park because it is really one of a kind. Being there was a really great experience. And do you know that the Taiping Zoo is just next to the park? So you can visit both at the same time. Ahhh.. Taiping is such a nice, peaceful town. I envy those who stay nearby, they get to relax in such a beautiful place everyday whenever they like.

Woah! Very nice photos! I never went to the place before, but my grandma says Taiping is a very nice place and if I do go there in the future I must visit the lake garden. Well, your post proved my grandma’s statement right!
