Langkawi Trip Part VI : Langkawi Bird Paradise
Continued from Langkawi Trip Part V : Air Hangat Village
Also located along Jalan Air Hangat, Langkawi Bird Paradise is only a 10 minutes drive from Air Hangat Village. Entrance fee is RM10 and bird feeds can be bought at RM2 for 3 packets.

Discover the exciting world of birds and nature at Langkawi’s Birds Paradise. Some 2,500 birds from 150 species are housed here including some of the world’s rarest and most beautiful birds. Admire these beautiful fowls as you stroll through beautiful tropical gardens. Spend some time at the Macaw’s Courtyard, the Flamingo Pond, and admire the clever impersonation of Cockatoos and Mynas.
If you wish, you can also drop by the photo booth and take a few photos of yourself with some of the friendly feathered residents here. Facilities availabe here includes a cafeteria and souvenir shop.
We were greeted by colorful and noisy parrots upon entering. The parrots don’t imitate our speech but make a lot of loud noises. Really loud. One of the park’s employee demonstrated to us on how to feed them. It was scary at first, because worried that they would peck our hands.

It turned out that they were very gentle
They would first use their tongues to retrieve the peanuts into their beak. Then they remove the peanut’s skin by pushing it against its beak in a circular motion. So clever!

Both of us took turns to feed the parrots. It would be real nice if they knew how to say “Thank you” after we fed them lol.

The Flamingo Pond was full of.. flamingos.

Besides birds, there are other animals here too like rabbits, mousedeer (kancil) and monkeys. The rabbits were very smelly, I quickly moved away after snapping their photo. Haha.

This is probably the cutest monkey I’ve ever encountered. It’s really tame and acts like a small baby. Initially it didn’t want to bother us, but when it saw our packet of peanuts, it came down. When I handed it a peanut, it didn’t snatch but took it gently from me ![]()

Moving on we entered the bird feeding area.

I never had a bird landing on my palm before (although the reason they land is to eat..) this is definitely a new experience.

Siang Leng joined in the fun too ![]()

And what would a bird park be without peacocks? These peacocks are afraid of people, very much. But if you have peanuts, they will come to you lol. Their pecks are a bit painful at times, because they peck real hard and fast. We managed to attract the whole park’s peacocks to us, there were about 6-8 of them. It was a pity we didn’t see the male peacocks show off though.

Outside the bird feeding area is a small artificial waterfall. Notice two seagulls standing almighty on it? I think this waterfall must be made for them to hang around. If you happen to visit Langkawi’s Bird Paradise, do buy a few packets of bird feed. A visit here would not be complete without feeding the birds, and don’t forget the cute monkey too
