How much is 1 set with soft drink and coleslaw? RM7.70
Where did I have it at? KFC Queensbay
Did I use the 20% discount voucher? Was it accepted? Yes, after discount it’s RM6.60+
If I order it ala carte? RM5.30
Is it as big as expected? No, the promotion posters did a really good job portraying it :P
Is it bigger than its nearest competitor? Yeah, the burger is thicker
Was I satisfied? Yes. It tasted quite good actually. Its fillet is crunchier and certainly packed more fish meat (compared to its nearest competitor)
Will I try it again? Of course!
Which is nicer, KFC or its nearest competitor? IMO, both are equally good. But I don’t really like KFC’s side order. Still prefer good ol’ fries.
What is that nearest competitor? McD lo, who else? :P
Last comments: I wanted to try if KFC would give a money back if I requested for it. All I had to do was fill in a form at the cashier. I have always wondered if these fast food chains will live up to their words.. But I didn’t do it because the Alaskan Fish Burger is good enough.

Batu Caves

January 18, 2007

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I have only been to Batu Caves once and that was during my primary school trip. I barely remember the experience except it was really dark. I can’t recall if I climbed the steps too.. If I did I must be quite a kid lol, there are 272 steps which I took around 15 minutes to complete. I don’t know if that’s considered slow.. I was carrying a rather heavy backpack (yeah it’s an excuse :P)

It was quite hazy and cloudy the entire day. That explains the almost non-existent sky in all the photos I took. It’s a real pity.. Given a fine clear weather, a lot of nice photos can be taken.

January last year (2006) a statue of Lord Murugan was unveiled in Batu Caves. The 42.7 metres high golden statue took 3 years to complete. It is so big that you can already spot it kilometres away on the highway. Actually I have no idea who is Lord Murugan other than he is a Hindu deity. If you are interested, this article in Wikipedia about Lord Murugan is an interesting read.

The steps leading to the top of the hill. They are not so easy to walk on due to its small size. Each step is indicated with its number in yellow.

And I must take this photo, one I already had in mind before even coming here. 168 the lucky number :D I also took 88 but no need to show la.

A lot of monkeys roam around Batu Caves. Don’t mess with them though, they can be fierce and retaliate. I saw a couple of foreigners teasing them and ended up being harassed.

Top of the hill is a magnificient opening. There’s also a small temple with lots of monkeys around. The opening is the only light source in the caves.

Nothing much to show already.. Most of the photos taken aren’t that nice due to the weather. If you haven’t visited Batu Caves in the past 3-5 years, it’s probably a good choice to make a return visit. It’s Visit Malaysia Year 2007 anyway, lets help keep the campaign to go strong :)

BBQ Chicken Wings

January 17, 2007

Mention BBQ Chicken Wings, and most likely the song ‘siu kai yik, ngo zhui zhong yi sek‘ sang by Stephen Chow will come to mind. Well if you don’t understand the Cantonese lyrics, it means ‘bbq chicken wings, I like to eat the most’ :D

There’s a stall in Kepong which is quite famous within the area. Coincidentally it is located within the same food court as the Kam Heong lala I posted a while ago. The name of the stall is ‘Hung Kei’ and has been on the newspaper before (it says Hung Kei has been in the business for more than 30 years)

Anyway a pair costs RM3.80, quite reasonable right? The wings are bigger too compared to the usual. The chicken wings’ honey coated skin is grilled to perfection. So nice, so crunchy.. very recommended!

Petronas Twin Towers

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Petronas Twin Towers (also known as the Petronas Towers), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were once the world’s tallest buildings when measured from the level of the main entrance to the structural or architectural top.

The Petronas Twin Towers are currently the tallest twin towers in the world, and they lay claim to being the world’s tallest high rise of the 20th century. Critics point out that this applies to only one of four height categories defined by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat - although the three additional height categories were only introduced as the tower neared completion in 1996, as opposed to the original category which had been in use since 1969.

This photo was taken on my last trip to KL. A really majestic building that still manages to leave me in awe after so many visits.
