Laksa Shack

Posted by: vkeong In: Food and Drink| Penang| Restaurant ()

Laksa Shack ‘The Laksa Specialist’ is one of the newer F&B business to establish its outlet in Penang. Within 6 months, there are already 2 branches in the northern Malaysia region. One of it in Queensbay while another in Sunway Carnival Mall.

Set

Although laksa should be their specialty, we decided to give the rice set meal a try because they seemed more tempting, at least on the photo lol. Anyway, Laksa Shack labels the them as Rice & Set Berdulang. Shown here is the Set Brayni, which is available for 2 pax only.

ABC

Ais Batu Campur served in a large cup for RM5.90. It has lots of ingredients from grass jelly, red bean, corn.. Yeah you know the usual stuff they put in ice kacang. It looked better than it tasted :P

Nasi-Briyani

The Nasi Bryani is good, topped with fair amount of raisins.

Keropok

I would usually call these keropok and kuih but they are actually known as papadam and begedel. Papadam is the crunchy crackers that you get whenever you have nasi kandar or nasi tomato. And begedel is mashed potatoes deep fried with egg white and onions. I know these thanks to Mr.Google lol. Honestly, I didn’t really like the begedel’s taste.

Telur-Dalca

This is Dalca Telur Bersayur.. Not sure what dalca means but its quite common in Malay and Indian food.

Ayam-Masak-Merah

And lastly ayam masak merah, which is the nicest among all. And of course it should be lol. Actually there’s another dish called jelatah which is pickled vegetables and onions. You can spot it in the first photo. The rice set costs RM19.90, quite expensive in my opinion considering the small portions of the dishes. We will definitely return to try their real specialty - laksa next time :)

Another one coming soon in Gurney Plaza, it’s under renovation now. They took over the Ipoh Street outlet.

Papadam or papadum is usually served in Indian cuisine or nasi lemak. I actually tried make my own pergedel last time with beef but it was a failure. :(
