All the outlets and shops are fully occupied. In addition, it has been endorsed by Penang state Government and Ministry of Tourism Malaysia as one of the tourism districts in mainland Penang. Auto City, with the support of Penang State Government and Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, has successfully hosted the recent Penang International Lantern Festival 2007 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 from 15/9/2007 till 31/12/2007. Anyway the entrace to the exhibition (is it called an exhibition anyway?) is totally awesome... I mean, even in Singapore I don't think I'll see such a grand decoration being put up. Looks like the Hello Kitty fever hasn't subsided over there huh, or maybe the organisers are trying to attract kids and make the event more family-oriented, which I completely support ;) sight-seeing will surely be more fun if you go as a family.
