Chulia Street Curry Mee @ Chulia Street
A buddy of mine recently recommended me to try a famous curry mee in Chulia Street (Lebuh Chulia) Being born and raised in the mainland side of Penang – Bukit Mertajam town, I always have difficulties navigating in Georgetown. The many number of streets and lanes, each with their very own unique names are confusing for me. It took a while for me to find this curry mee stall, I even had to ask a couple of people for directions. Any BM-kia here faces the same problem like me?
The curry mee is good with generous portions of cockles and cuttlefish. There’s also a big yummy fish ball, which I think is the nicest fish ball I ever had. A real pity that there’s no coagulated pig’s blood, I just love eating it while slurping the tasty curry mee soup. And a bowl costs only RM2.50, no wonder people are making a beeline for it, even as late as 10pm.
The stall is located opposite the 7-11 in Chulia Street, or you can also lookout for this big Dunlopillo furniture shop. It is operated by an old couple, in which the wife takes the order and the husband prepares the curry mee. Although the curry mee is really good, I am raring to return because of the super long wait. It took 40 minutes and 2 reminders for my order to arrive…

It’s a long wait for a bowl of curry mee. You might as well order the Wanton Mee next to it. It’s way faster and bigger portion!
