Rasa Sayang International Buffet @ Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa
Rasa Sayang International Buffet is priced at RM96 per pax excluding 5% Government tax and 10% service charge. It is held in Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa along Batu Ferringhi Beach in Penang. Spice Market Cafe hosts the buffet this is the contact information:
Tel: 04-888 8888 (wow nice number)
Fax: 04-881 1800
Chocolate Fountain, you can dip fruits like strawberry, dragon fruit and marshmallows. It is definitely a wonderful experience if you haven’t seen a Chocolate Fountain before. The melted chocolate oozing like a fountain is really a sight to behold.
A variety of seafood is available at the buffet, like mussels..
Fresh crayfish
Fresh prawns
Fresh lobsters
Fresh crabs
Beef salami, chicken salad and vegetable salad
A dedicated staff is assigned to grill the satays, feel free to take as much as you want. There’s even lamb satay here.
Breads and buns
Sushi is also available. But we found the sushi rice was not fully cooked, felt a bit hard. The unagi was tasteless, awful and cold. They didn’t felt like they were freshly prepared..
Then there were a lot of very delicious looking desserts with very artistic decorations. Doesn’t the decoration resemble a crown on top of the cake?
Some chocolate cakes and strawberry desserts lined up for grabs
Cheese cake
Please note that only coffee, tea and plain water are available free of charge. If you wish to order fresh fruit juice, wine or other drinks, those are considered extra charges.
Desserts served in cups and pastries, don’t they look delicate?
The nicest dessert among all for me would be the one most behind. It’s a small piece of chocolate cake prepared using a lot, and I mean a lot of chocolate.
This looks nice, but no. I didn’t quite like it because it felt too moist and wet. And the shell shaped thingy is actually made of white chocolate.
Chocolate mousse with lotsa cream and topped with a piece of chocolate painted with gold. I am not sure if it’s real gold though lol. If it is, then this must have cost a lot to prepare.
I remembered reading another forwarded email about this international buffet where dim sum being was served. I think that’s only available for lunch buffet? Can anyone clarify on this? For your information, the buffet I attended was held at night. And lastly, all photos are for reference purpose only. Happy buffet-ing!

I had the buffet a few months ago when I was home and I wrote about it but it’s still in my draft. Gotta publish it soon. You should stay in their rooms, it’s fantastic. You will feel like you are on a vacation even though it’s in Penang!

i think they mix up the lobster and cray fish label. the one with flat head and pale red in colour is cray fish while the one with crab alike limb (wat they call?) and bright red is the lobster.
huiyoh rasa sayang really sanggup. E&O CNY buffet dinner no lobster this time. Sien. going to complain.

I been went for Golden sand lunch buffet, actually not bad and cheap around RM 42 nett with nice scenic. In Penang, until now for me i feel Trader Hotel Saturday night Seafood buffet is one of the superb session for me and my friend, but it cost about rm80+-. worth to try…

Strawberry with chocholate fountain sounds great dessert after all the fresh shrimp and crab. My cousin told me that there is a cafe serve fruit with melted chocholate. But the chocholate is not served as fountain. It serve in a pot with candle to make the chocholate melt.

wow seems very delicious.. i’ve always heard about the nice food at there but never try before.. the price is quite expensive.after tax shuld be Rm100++??
But as i know that their Buffet lunch on sunday is only Rm58++, just the matter is their serving on sunday also is that good and variety of choices?
vk: hi nie, well for me the RM100++ price is quite justified for the huge spread and choices. If you are not a big eater then maybe it’s not that worth
Not too sure about their Sunday buffet though

RM96++ is over priced for this quality, with best dish is only crab (some more is just the skinny “qi” not the real fat crab). and the lobster are not lobster actually. It is called this Xia-Po, the class is lower than fresh sea prawns.
If you go Singapore, only S$35, you get twice better the quality, five times more choices in any of the buffet restraurants in Suntec City

The RM96 is for lunch buffet or dinner buffet? Is it only on Sunday?
Hi Eunice, if you looked at the date of posting the price RM96 was for 2 years ago. I think you better check with Shangri-La for the latest price

I went to Rasa Sayang for buffet yesterday.I don’t really enjoy the food. The only thing I can say is the food got their quality as from the price they charge. I agree the decoration is nice but still, you’ll put everything into your stomach. To me, I will concentrate on better taste than decoration..
