TAO Eat All You Can Ala Carte Buffet @ Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara
| Share |

Then I had another go at the scallops, I really enjoyed it.

The sushi was disappointing so I think you can save your stomach space for other items.. don’t stuff yourself with so much rice.

The chawan mushi (Fukahire Chawan Mushi) here is quite premium, prepared with sharkskin. This sharkskin egg custard may look tiny but it packs a really strong flavor, unlike the other chawan mushi you would get in the chained sushi restaurants.

The desserts are quite limited with about five to six selections from the self-service counter. All of them were quite good for me except for the small custard. It has that medicine taste if you know what I mean.

Some local fruits – the pineapple was in chunks and tasted naturally sweet. I am glad they did not resort to using canned pineapples.

For the drinks you can choose from green tea, a variety of juices, latte, cappuccino or black coffee. The cappuccino was not bad at all but it was already mixed with sugar in prior. So let your waiter know if you want to control the sweetness yourself.

Some of the food we had, all delivered in one shot lol. Service is efficient here, I really liked that.

Don’t expect Haagen Dazs here for RM42 but King’s ice cream was good enough for me. You could actually drizzle some melted chocolate on the ice cream taken from the chocolate fountain. I wished there were more toppings available though, at least crushed peanuts?

Wooden cloth pegs (known as ‘clips’ here) with the table number written on it, used for ordering the Teppanyaki and BBQ food.

The dessert counter, quite small isn’t it?

Opposite the desserts is the ice cream counter with a chocolate fountain. Besides topping the ice cream, fruits like apple and honey dew can be dipped here as well.

Overall the food at TAO is satisfying for me and there are still plenty of items from the menu we did not try, which means a return visit for us is quite likely to happen. For your information the food is categorized into cold cuts, fried dishes, grilled, main dish, noodles, makimono and many more with each having about 10 to 15 selections. So in total there are nearly 100 ala carte items to choose from!
To fully enjoy the buffet I suggest you to come for the dinner buffet on weekdays (Mon to Thurs), as the session is longer from 5.30pm to 10.30pm with a wider display of items at all the self-service counters (during weekends from Fri to Sun the dinner buffet is actually split into two sessions at 2 hours each, even shorter than the lunch buffet)
For reservation through the phone you have to be patient, as it is either always busy or not being picked up. I only got through after trying a few times afterwards.

Tao has 3 restaurants in Singapore – Tao’s Restaurant, JuJu Hot Pot both at Pomo Centre and another one Dozo at Valley Point Centre. The concept is very different from what you have, all 3 offer 6 or 7 set course. For every course, you get to select from a range of dishes and it is really very value for money. All 3 restaurants have very good customer services too. You may want to try when you drop by Singapore.

The one at Juru had a Sushi counter as well, but true as you said; not worth the stomach space being filled up with rice.
The cheese wanton is good as well.

Random question. There seems to be another Tao at e@Curve. Would you happen to know if it belongs to the same owners?
