Now that I have relocated to the Klang Valley, I haven’t been to Bukit Tambun for seafood as frequent as I used to. In the recent years there has been a sprout of new seafood restaurants just after the toll exit which specialize in Claypot Crab Rice. Among them, Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant is the biggest player here in terms of restaurant size and customer count. My previous and also first visit to Cia Xiang was good hence the return.

claypot-crab-rice

This is what they are famous for – Claypot Crab Rice (蟹王香饭) @ RM48. There is a minimum order of 2 pax which is more than enough to be shared among four people.

Taste wise it is quite predictable like any claypot rice out there. Besides using crab instead of meat, dried shrimps and a lot of onions are in place instead of salted fish. But to be honest the crab’s fragrance in the rice is quite minimal that it is almost non-existant.

steamed-garoupa

Steamed Grouper (清蒸石斑) @ RM69, it is fresh so I guess that is all that matters when it comes to steamed fish.

fried-grape-prawns

Deep Fried Prawn with Grape Juice (葡萄虾) @ RM35 is another signature dish of Cia Xiang’s. The prawns are are battered first before being deep fried so the shells are actually quite crunchy and can be eaten if you want. This refreshing combination of ingredients actually works really well together and worth trying especially if you are bored with the usual butter or oat prawns.

grilled-crabs

The Grilled Crabs (2 for RM50) were great on my first visit. In fact they were so delicious that I started to crave for it badly after I went back to KL. Because of this I went on a crab hunting spree at various seafood restaurants in KL – desperate to find one that could match this. Unfortunately, it tasted different this time round, as it was slightly overcooked and the crabs were not as huge and as meaty as I remembered. Well, despite the misses, the grilled crabs are still quite good, just not as awesome as the previous visit.

sugar-cane-juice

Sugar cane juice is sold here @ RM9 per bottle and I quite liked it. It is no doubt a bit pricey but you can taste the pureness and thickness of the sugar cane juice with no added sugar or water.

restoran-cia-xiang

Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant is extremely easy to find. As soon as you exit Bukit Tambun’s toll plaza you will surely come to a roundabout. Take the 12 o’clock exit and you will see this huge restaurant on your right.

First of all, let me just start by saying i’m a big fan of yours. Whenever i’m on the prowl for food but lacks the idea, your website, my food bible would be the place i seek other than ky’s! Well, the restaurant that you mentioned above i’ve yet to try, but when you talk about bkt tambun, the restaurant that i always goes would be the floating palace. when you exit the toll, turn right, go all the way straight, then you will be going up hill, not long after you will pass a police station, then not long after on your right you should see the restaurant, if you overshoot, dun worry 10 minuted you will reach end of the road and you see the more popular prawn village restaurant. now, wats good in floating palace, their crabs obviously, their black pepper crab n salted egg yolk grab are the best in the whole of bkt tambun (so i was told by a relative who lives there) but believe me, day in day out after having that you will be missing it! Erm. .. seems to be too long a comment, better stop now, if you are on fb pls add me as well! Cheers bro!

floating restaurant is still okay, loved they lemon steamed fish. however, loads of flies, and if there are loads of kids there, then it will be terrible due to it’s floating

anyway, always wanted to try the claypot crab rice after i saw the huge sign board, but since now you say it’s normal, hmmmm…

Its true, the crab size is big , have flesh but not sweet taste.
suspect its rear. i’ve went to this restaurant more than 5X. The service is getting poorer each time.

they’re all so delicious! i got hungry now. i wish i ever had the chance to get some specialties like these. but my family is a bit conservative with the food… and in my country, there aren’t really good places like that. could anyone suggest me a really good seafood restaurant in southern germany? :/

i’ve been to this restaurant too. Food is just ok. Yes, the claypot crab is just normal. do watch out, is some months, there are many flies. So do choose the right time. Do try the lemon “kappa” and white nutmeg drinks.
