Bubbles & Bites is the latest addition to Resorts World Genting‘s stellar list of restaurant. Opened only a few months ago in July 2012, what sets Bubbles & Bites apart is their casual and affordable dining experience. This for me is something very much welcomed in the city above the clouds because frankly, I am sick of eating at the marked up fast-food joints.

Bubbles and Bites Resort World Genting

In conjunction with the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2012, Bubbles & Bites has prepared a festival menu which showcases a selection of their signature dishes. Priced at RM98++ (RM168++ with wine pairing) the 5-course menu features a number of familiar items prepared to a high standard using fresh and high quality ingredients.

Amuse Bouche - Trilogy of Spicy Oxtail Empanadas, Scoth Eggs & Peri Peri Chicken Wings

The Amuse Bouche is simply a combination of three different appetizers that could ordered individually off the menu. They are Spicy Oxtail Empanadas, Scotch Eggs and Peri-Peri Chicken Wings. If the Empanadas look familiar to you, that is because this Portugese stuffed pastry has been adapted into our favorite tea-break treat we all know as ‘karipap’.
Perfectly shaped with a crispy and flaky crust, the tender and flavorful oxtail filling offers a nice contrast of textures, simply delicious. A cool and refreshing touch could be added to the Empanada by dipping it into the Tzatziki sauce, it tastes fresh of lemon and yogurt.

Scotch Egg & Peri Peri Chicken Wing

Wrapped with a layer of minced chicken, sausages and herbs, the crunchy Scotch Egg is very much of a classic comfort food that appears simple, yet leaves you satisfied. And spicy food lovers will appreciate the Peri-Peri Chicken Wing infused with flavors from the Chef’s special hot and zesty sauce, it is finger-lickgue-tingling good!

Garden Mixed Green Salad

For appetizer, a bowl of Mixed Green Salad, made with freshly picked greens from the Genting’s Garden located just outside the resort. It is a simple and honest salad that does not need thick dressing, as slices of Parmesan cheese, anchovies and a squeeze of lemon are sufficient enough to enliven the flavor.

Spaghetti

Smoked Beef Bacon Spaghetti

Home-made Spaghetti coupled with “Matriciana” Tomato, Smoked Beef Bacon and Onion sauce serves as the entree – it is a colorful and company-worthy pasta that taste as good as it looks.

Slow-Braised-Lamb-Shank

The main course of the menu is the Eight Hours Slow Braised Lamb Shank with Butternut Pumpkin Couscous, a faultless dish that comes with a fair a la carte price of RM23. In fact, a steal considering it’s Genting.

Slow Braised Lamb Shank

After braised to perfection, the Lamb Shank goes through a chill blast process which helps to retain the shape and keeping it firm. Then it is slowly reheated for an entire four hours before being actually served. This explains the juiciness in the tender meat, as well as the beautiful fall-off-the-bone texture that never cease to amaze.

Signature Cream Tiramisu

Bubbles & Bites’ signature Creamy Tiramisu is selected as the dessert. This slice of heaven comes with a puff of purple cotton candy that not only mirrors the restaurant’s color scheme, it puts you on a slight sugar high while savoring the richness of the cake. Priced at only RM9 a slice, this is a bargain worth detouring for – even if you do not order the full festival menu.

A staircase located at the end of the restaurant leads to a funky chill out section, where you could enjoy company of friends and loved ones over some drinks and finger food. The vibe is hip and young with Asian pop music being played throughout the place, but never too loud to enjoy conversations.

Bubbles-&-Bites-Restaurant

Besides food, booze and drinks are other reasons to visit Bubbles & Bites. Miniature bottles of sparkling wines, alcoholic sodas, juices, bottle drinks and wines from all around the world could be found here and some of them are pretty hard to get. Take the Bottega Gold for example, it is usually sold only at duty free shops but could be found here at a similar price. Makes a good gift too!
