How much is 1 set with soft drink and coleslaw? RM7.70
Where did I have it at? KFC Queensbay
Did I use the 20% discount voucher? Was it accepted? Yes, after discount it’s RM6.60+
If I order it ala carte? RM5.30
Is it as big as expected? No, the promotion posters did a really good job portraying it :P
Is it bigger than its nearest competitor? Yeah, the burger is thicker
Was I satisfied? Yes. It tasted quite good actually. Its fillet is crunchier and certainly packed more fish meat (compared to its nearest competitor)
Will I try it again? Of course!
Which is nicer, KFC or its nearest competitor? IMO, both are equally good. But I don’t really like KFC’s side order. Still prefer good ol’ fries.
What is that nearest competitor? McD lo, who else? :P
Last comments: I wanted to try if KFC would give a money back if I requested for it. All I had to do was fill in a form at the cashier. I have always wondered if these fast food chains will live up to their words.. But I didn’t do it because the Alaskan Fish Burger is good enough.

Chicken Rice @ Chicken Valley

November 17, 2006

Chicken Valley Restaurant is a fast food outlet located in Taman Mutiara, Bukit Mertajam. I am sure most BM kia will know this place because it has been there for almost 10 years. Chicken Valley’s business when it just started was quite good actually but has declined a lot over time. As a result, the second floor has been closed indefinitely. I think the reason being the opening of Pizza Hut, KFC and McDonald in areas nearby. We didn’t have such fast food chains last time, to enjoy McD we had to go to Penang island :(

Anyway, I had their chicken rice set meal @ RM4.95 for dinner just now. This set meal consists of a plate of chicken rice (quarter BBQ honey chicken), soft drink and soup. The price is reasonable and the food good too. Chicken Valley also makes good chicken burgers that can fight with McD ones leh ;)

Subway Sandwiches @ E-Gate

September 6, 2006

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Penang has a new restaurant franchise now - Subway. Subway sells sandwiches and salads, a healthy alternative to fatty fast food. To date, there are only 6 Subway restaurants in Malaysia, with 5 of them in Kuala Lumpur. I have always wanted to try Subway’s sandwiches since I saw its restaurants in One Utama and Wisma Uoa, that was like 6 months ago.. So no doubt I am quite excited about Subway’s latest restaurant opening in E-Gate.

On a Friday afternoon the restaurant was jam packed, customers were queueing till the entrance from the sandwich counter. The interior of Subway E-Gate resembles the design of American restaurants, using red bricks and bright lighting.

There are 4 steps in creating your own Subway sandwich. First, you have to choose the bread from Wheat, Italian, Parmesan Oregano or Harvest Wheat - you can opt for six inch or a foot long. Then, select your choice of Subway meal from the menu board. There are 12 Subway meals available in Malaysia, categorized into Classics, Hot Subs and Basics. Then, the Sandwich Artist (the person who prepares your sandwich) will prepare the orders right before you. After that, choose your sandwich’s vegetable from onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, green peppers and black olives. Lastly, choose your preferred sandwich dressing. It can a combination of cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, thousand island dressing or pepper. The sandwich preparation process is very interesting and I recorded it in a video lol.

We paid an extra RM3.50 that upgraded our meal to a Subway meal. A Subway meal has a soft drink and a choice of chips or cookie. We wanted to opt for the cookie but it was sold out due to the crowd.. Too bad, the cookie looked nice, Mr.Potato chips is available everywhere :( FYI, it costs RM1 to refill soft drinks here.

This is how my sandwich looked like, its called the Italian BMT (Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest) @ RM9.80. I chose mayonnaise and mustard as the dressing.

Turkey Breast and Ham sandwich, RM9.80 - this tasted better than Italian BMT.

The fillings were too much to hold in the bread
