How much does a kg of crab cost in your local seafood restaurants? RM35? RM40? Well, there’s a famous seafood restaurant at Desa Aman Puri, Kepong which draws crowd due to their cheap and tasty crabs. Tak Fok Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant serves their crabs at RM18 per kg, the cheapest I’ve seen and eaten so far. Crabs baked with butter and cheese is something new for me. And I absolutely loved it!

If there should be a most iconic food for Bukit Mertajam, it would be none other than the noodles sold beside BM’s Tua Pek Kong Temple. It has been given a lot of names from White Wantan Mee to Tok Tok Mee to Tokong Mee. However, most people I came across prefer to call it White Wantan Mee. I think this is because it’d sound more recognizable for the masses and also create curiosity for strangers of Bukit Mertajam. Now, wouldn’t you want to know how wantan mee looks and tastes like, in white?

I am not a big fan of porridge. Really. I have always considered porridge boring, tasteless and something which I’d only eat when I am sick. Some sort of a food therapy for the unwell. But, a porridge stall off Petaling Street managed to change my perception towards porridge, which is Famous Hon Kee Porridge 汉记靓粥. It has been around for decades and had garnered good reviews from food bloggers in the past. Now, it includes me.

If you have been working in Penang then you would have probably seen this circulating email regarding Mizi Bistro. Contained in the email was Ling Zie’s review of Mizi Bistro. The review was done not long after it opened at New World Park. It was forwarded so widely that I have received it myself thrice, all from different company emails!

Everyone in my office (including me of course) who read the email had the same urge - wanting to try the food in Mizi Bistro so badly because the food looked very good. Price was reasonable too. We had the set lunch @ RM16.90 per person, which includes a soup, drink and dessert.
