TGI Fridays 3 Course Meal for RM39.90

November 19, 2007

Let’s see, TGI Fridays has been open in Queensbay for like almost a year and I have yet to dine there. It’s kind of conflicting myself because I have been wanting to dine there since it opened last year. I had to wait until TGI Fridays rolled out the promotion of 3 course meal for RM39.90. Yeah I know I am stingy. The photos I took are lousy due to the dark environment.. paiseh. I am still a noob in taking photos in the dark :(

TGI-Friday

Your could see huge banners everywhere in Queensbay promoting this set meal. I tell you, it’s really really worth it. And best of all, it’s enough to serve for two. If you feel the drinks are a bit too expensive, you can opt for plain water and it’s free of charge. I did that.

Ingolf’s Kneipe German Bar and Restaurant

November 9, 2007

One of the nicest thing working in Jabil is getting the quarterly profit sharing. Every quarter all the employees would get a share of the company’s profit based on the performance in the past 6 months. The last quarter was the highest percentage of all time, and it’d be a very tough record to break. So I treated my family a lunch in Ingolf’s Kneipe German Restaurant and Bar.

Ingolf-Kneipe-Bar

Kneipe means bar in German, it is well known for its nice, big portioned and resonably priced German cuisine.

Dinner @ Ristorante Bella Italia

November 12, 2006

Last Thursday was my department dinner. It was held at an Italian restaurant in Pulau Tikus‘ commercial area (Belissa Row, Jalan Burma) named Ristorante Bella Italia. At first I didn’t really liked the idea of having dinner there.. but I changed my mind after that :P *Photos courtesy of Foong Peng (I didn’t bring my cam)

There were 14 of us and we occupied like half of the restaurant lol. One of the appetizers offered is Fritto Di Calamari - deep fried squid ring served with tartare sauce @ RM15.00. We ordered 2 plates of this, it served as a great start.

This was my order that night, Bisueca Di Manzo Alla Boscaiola - grilled beef tenderloin steak with mushrooms @ RM42.00. It tasted OK only, and the meat wasn’t really as done as I wanted it to be. The grilled eggplants were bitter.. didn’t like them at all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Spagehetti Alla Bella Italia - spaghetti with prawns, clams and asparagus in white garlic sauce @ RM25.00. I don’t know how it tasted but it sure looked good to me! I like the way the ingredients are arranged for presentation.

Agnello Alla Cacciatora Con Funghi - lamb shanks braised with mushroom @ RM32.00. I think this dish is worth your money the most.. the proportion is just huge! If you are wondering, shank is the part between the knee and ankle (according to the dictionary)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Trancie Di Tonno Alla Peperonata - pan-fried tuna steak served with flavourful tomato sauce and roasted capsicums @ RM32.50. This dish tasted good, and that’s coming from me who despises tuna now (I used to love it but not after a really bad experience early this year)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Our dessert, Tiramisu @ RM11.50. In Italian, this is called Mascarpone Cheese. It is basically a sponge cake layered with coffee (and chocolate too?) Funny though, I only felt the soft cheese part that melts almost instantly in the mouth

Shown here are merely a quarter of the dishes we ordered throughout the night. Other dishes we had include clam soup, various pizzas, tomato soup, mix seafood plate and baked chicken with black olives. A pity I didn’t bring my camera along.. it’s not often I get to eat good Italian food. Our bill came to a close RM800, RM900 if you take into account the service charges and tax. And yeah, I was stunned to know that lol.

Mother’s Day Celebration @ Manila Place

May 20, 2006

Last Saturday we took our mom to Penang to celebrate Mother’s Day. We have been planning this two weeks before that. She told us she would like to have a nice meal of chicken chop. Many places have been suggested, like buffet lunch in E & O or Evergreen Laurel Hotel, or Western food in The Ship or Eden.

We ended up looking for a restaurant randomly through The Star’s Metro centerspread and found one which matched mom’s requirement and our budget :P “Manila Place” is a Western style restaurant located in the ground floor of Gurney Plaza and had a Mother’s Day promotion going on for RM23.90, perfect.

Hearts Restaurant Interior

Doesn’t this look sooo familiar?
Confectionaries
Array of cakes displayed.. cheese cakes, banana chocolate, tarts, pies..

Entering this restaurant feels like entering “Secret Recipe” due to its decor, various chocolate and cheese cakes are displayed beside the counter. The Mother’s Day lunch set comprises of:

  • Sharks fin soup with bun and butter
  • Main Course
  • Orange Ice Cream, and
  • Hot/Cold Rose Tea

A normal set lunch would be

  • Mushroom soup with bun and butter
  • Main Course
  • Chocolate/Vanilla/Strawberry Ice Cream, and
  • Iced Lemon Tea

The entire restaurant is served young and attractive ladies, but clumsy. A plate was heard broken in the kitchen, and our fork was dropped by the waitress.. twice.

BBQ Chicken
This was my main course, BBQ Chicken. Tasted good but I got a bit bored after a few bites.. Mixed Herbs Chicken

My brother’s main course, Mixed Herbs Chicken. This is good stuff, very unique taste. I actually preferred this to my BBQ Chicken.
Beautiful looking salad

Nice decoration does have effect on your meal :)
Fish & Chips

My sister’s main course, Fish & Chips. I hated it. Since suffering from a very severe diarrhoea caused by an unfresh salmon steak, I had a very bad experience in eating any fish cooked in any Western style.. But it was nice according to my sis.

Sharks Fin Soup & Bun

The Sharks Fin Soup is watery unlike those we normally have in wedding dinners. Anyway it was still good, and the bun is very fresh :D The bun reminded me of those served in U-Nite, but let’s not bring back bad memories :)

Iced Lemon Tea

This is most probably just Season’s canned Iced Lemon Tea..

Iced Rose Tea

Rose Tea which came with the Mother’s Day Set Lunch, no taste at all.. no good

Orange Flavored Ice Cream

This is the dessert served in the Mother’s Day Special Set Lunch, the texture is a bit different from normal ice cream. I think it is made by the chefs here themselves. Not very good IMO, the chefs need to work harder :P
Variety of Ice Cream
These are the available ice creams: chocolate, strawberry and orange flavored. The strawberry flavored is the nicest among all, a rare choice from me who loves chocolate :P
My brother and I

My brother and I, we do not really look alike hor.. Many people have said I am his elder brother -_-” Do I really look that old? He is 5 years my senior leh.
Is this a Carnation?
Happy Mother’s Day!
