Dim Sum City @ Insa Dunia Food Court, Bukit Mertajam

The famous Wong Chow dim sum restaurant in Bukit Mertajam is getting worse with sub par food being served and choices are very limited too. I have since blacklisted the restaurant, which is a shame because it used to be my favorite dim sum restaurant. Luckily I have found an alternative for my weekend dim sum fix – Dim Sum City (Dian Xin Cheng) at Kampung Baru.
I won’t be going into details about the dim sum here but they are mostly good tasting. I also think that their dim sum is the top in BM currently for quality and variety.
Pan Ki Dim Sum @ Sri Petaling

On the first day of Raya, I started off the day by having a wonderful [tag]dim sum[/tag] [tag]breakfast[/tag] at one of the best dim sum [tag]restaurant[/tag] in Sri Petaling – Pan Ki. Surprisingly, it has the same Chinese name with Phang Key – another good dim sum restaurant nearby in Happy Garden. I don’t know if they’re related but their dim sum is really different from each other.
The variety of dim sum at Pan Ki is wide and they have a big steaming station. Bamboo steamers stacked as tall as a man are used to cope with the huge customer turnout. I had to wait for a while before finally getting a table for two.
But the short wait has proven very worthwhile. The Har Gao was nice with succulent prawns wrapped in thin translucent skin that didn’t break easily – a proof of the chef’s skill.
Other steamed dim sum like Siu Mai and Har Mai are pretty good too.
Eden Dim Sum City Restaurant @ Bandar Menjalara

Eden Dim Sum City restaurant in Bandar Menjalara is a popular place to go for good dim sum in Kepong. I stumbled upon this [tag]dim sum[/tag] restaurant one day when I was driving aimlessly looking for a place to have breakfast. The large crowd even well after breakfast time was an indication that Eden should be pretty good.
It was one of the most expensive dim sum [tag]breakfast[/tag] I ever had – RM30. My own mistake actually, I didn’t ask for the price before taking all the expensive stuff, lol.
Maxim Dim Sum Restaurant @ Taman Pekaka

Maxim Dim Sum Restaurant @ Taman Pekaka WAS a restaurant that I used to condemn. But seeing many people are still recommending it after my first visit, I decided to give it another try. After that, I was convinced and it totally changed my impression on the restaurant. I wonder what went wrong in my first visit.
