“Loy Key” Restaurant
Aug 30th
“Loy Key” ?记 is one of my family’s favorite restaurant in Bukit Mertajam. We would eat here once a month in the weekends. “Loy Key” should be quite well known among [tag]Bukit Mertajam[/tag] people because it was one of the largest air-conditioned restaurants in the 90s. They used to sell dim sum in the morning but since relocating from Jalan Kulim to a smaller place, only Chinese course meals are available.
Most of the time we would order their “Five Seasons” 冷盘, a dish which is made up of five different dishes. It is also one of the 8 dishes served in most Chinese wedding dinners, usually served first and followed by sharks fin soup. We customized our “Five Seasons” to have (in clockwise order) Guineness Stout Pork Ribs 黑狗排骨, Special Taufu 招牌豆?, Belacan Asparagus, Fried Spring Rolls and Fried Egg with Sharks Fin 鱼翅炒蛋. All tasted great, especially the taufu and egg
We also ordered a teo-chew style steamed fish, I am not sure what was the name of the fish but it’s 红皂 in Chinese. Our bill came close to RM91 inclusive of drinks, with “Five Seasons” at RM45 and the fish at RM26 (quite expensive, but it was very fresh) As desserts, pandan jellies or cut fruits are served FOC as for all guests.

Langkawi Trip Part VII : Tanjung Rhu Beach
Aug 25th
Continued from Langkawi Trip Part VI : Langkawi Bird Paradise
I have asked a colleague of mine to recommend me a nice beach in [tag]Langkawi[/tag] and his answer was [tag]Tanjung Rhu[/tag]. I believed him because he grew up in Alor Setar and frequented Langkawi in his childhood (of course I did some research first too
)
Pantai Tanjung Rhu
Located near the top of northeast corner of Langkawi, Pantai Tanjung Rhu is much more secluded and exclusive. Famous for its beautiful beaches with emerald green waters Pantai Tanjung Rhu is one of those places you go when you want to get away from it all. For those staying in this area there are several tourist attractions to visit.
“Shall We Meet” Restaurant
Apr 29th
“Shall We Meet” restaurant.. the first time I see the name, it reminds me of the “Shall We Talk” song by Eason Chan. Anyway, this cafe-like restaurant is located SS2, directly opposite Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.
“Shall We Meet” – shouldn’t it be “Yao Jian Mian Ma?”

The decor of the restaurant is plain and simple. Almost everything is in black and white: tables, chairs, walls, and the waiters’ uniform. “Shall We Meet” serves a really wide range of customers, when we were there we saw families, office ladies, students and couples dining.

Banana Chocolate Milkshake
One thing I found interesting in their menu is the “Dan Dan Mian” translated to Cart Noodles. There are 3 different combos that you can order: A,B or C .. seriously they need to think of more creative names lol.

Cart Noodles A, B or C leh?
The differences among the combos are the number of toppings you can add to your noodles. You can choose from luncheon meat, sausage, egg, braised pork, curry chicken and many more. Besides the toppings, you can also choose the type of noodles you wish to have, eg. Wantan mee, Yellow mee, Huang Ti noodle etc. Lastly, you will need to decide the gravy, which I chose curry chicken. Customization is the selling point here
This was how my customized Cart Noodle looked like.. The soup that accompanied tasted very unique, another selling point.

Ham + Sausage + Huang Ti Noodle + Curry Chicken gravy
This was what Siang Leng had, luncheon meat + egg set. Nothing special to write home about.

This should be taken for breakfast
KLCC Signatures Food Court
Apr 24th
“Signatures” is one of the two available food courts currently residing in KLCC. Compared to the other food court – “Asian Flavours”, “Signatures” is a class higher(so you can expect the food to be 50 cents – RM1 more expensive) and they serve better food. Besides, you can have a great view of the KLCC park if you are lucky to have the side seats
Waiting for my sandwich.. I still remember my experience to this food court I had when I first visited KLCC 5 years ago. I was about to enroll in my FCM Alpha course in MMU Cyberjaya and my whole family came along to tour KL city. We were awed to see this place lol.
Turkey Ham sandwich, yum. “Super Sandwiches”, the sandwich stand that left me with the deepest memory.. I still can recall the feeling of amazement I had when they presented me with the combination of different sandwiches I can have. It has became a regularity that I must visit this sandwich stand everytime I step into this food court, it surely brings back some fond memories.
*Useful tips*
1. Drinks sold here are really expensive, especially those cold ones. Head to McD if you want a soft drink, or the nasi kandar stall for hot drinks.
2. The nasi kandar campur and chicken rice are nice and not really expensive. Rm4.50 a meal here is a steal.
