“Delicious” Curry Fish Head
Aug 15th
I posted an entry mentioning a very nice Curry Fish Head stall in [tag]Kepong[/tag] some months ago. Last weekend when I went to Cyberjaya to attend Siang Leng’s convocation, I had the opportunity to enjoy this delicious curry fish head again. This time, I managed to take some pictures of it!
“Delicious” 有余 [tag]Curry Fish Head[/tag] operates in a huge food court in Kepong called “Happy City” 快?城. It is managed by 2 people, a man and a lady. I am not sure of their relationship, but I assume the lady is from China because she has “the slang” when speaking in Mandarin.
So far, every time I go to “Happy City”, the place is full. It has about 20-30 stalls and features a big projector screen showing Astro dramas. Parking is easily available and free just in front of the food court.
The smallest portion cost RM9 exclusive of rice. Although it looks little, it is enough for 2-3 people, costing only RM3-5 per person for a syok meal. Their Curry Fish Head is always cooked upon order, so you can be sured of its freshness. Look at the gravy which was boiling hot when delivered to our table.
The Curry Fish Head sold here uses pretty much the usual ingredients: Fish meat, taufu pok, ladies fingers and long beans. What I like the most is the really rich and thick gravy. The gravy was so nice that I can finish the plate of rice with it LOL. Definitely a must try!
Seafood @ Bukit Tambun
Jul 25th
Needless to say, anyone who goes to Bukit Tambun for the [tag]seafood[/tag]. Ghee Seng Seafood Restaurant is situated beside a river, diagonally opposite the state’s [tag]Batu Kawan[/tag] Stadium.
Fried Mee Tiao – RM 7. No comment, tastes normal. So far I haven’t found any restaurant that can fry a very nice plate of mee tiao.. if you know any, leave a message
Steamed Mini Octopus – RM 8. They are tasteless, you need to dip them into the Thai chilli sauce to really enjoy it.
Fried Oyster – RM 8. I have had better lol, oysters given were ridiculously little.
Siao Bai Cai – RM 6. We actually had 2 plates of this because a stupid fly dropped into our first one. The problem with eating here in Ghee Seng is the big amount of annoying flies. You will be too busy chasing them away that you cannot really enjoy your meal in peace.
Satay – RM 9 (15 sticks) The satay was very nice, special too because they are barbecued together with the peanut sauce.
Fried Soft Shell Crab – RM 16.
Sweet and Sour Crab – RM 20 (3 flower crabs) This is the highlight of our meal, the nicest one too. The crabs were very fresh (they were still alive before being cook) It didn’t really tasted like how it was described, it was pretty spicy lol.
Fried Buns that come with the Sweet Sour Crab, to dip in the gravy. Actually, if not for the flies, this would be one of my favorite seafood restaurant in [tag]Bukit Tambun[/tag].
Seafood Dinner @ Batu Maung
Jul 17th
Last night Siang Leng and I went to [tag]Batu Maung[/tag] and had [tag]seafood[/tag] as dinner. The restaurant we went to was called Boon Seng. We ordered:

Belacan Kangkung – RM6

Fried Mee Tiao – Portion for 2 RM6

Fried Sotong – RM8

Kam Heong Than – RM12, this is the nicest among all. The bill came up to RM37 (including 2 cups of orange juice and peanuts) Price wise it was reasonable, food wise overall ok lah.. it could’ve been better.
Flame Steamboat Restaurant
Jun 24th
“Flame” Steamboat Restaurant is opened by a quite famous Hong Kong actor in the 90s, Mark Cheng. For those who don’t know him, maybe a cardboard version of himself could help to refresh your memory haha.
This is the guy who owns this chain of steamboat restaurants. The one we went to was located in Bayan Lepas area, in Krystal Point. You cannot miss it, it’s the corner shop. My brother actually went to this restaurant once with his Altera colleagues. He recommended it as it was quite unique, serving a lot of unheard soup bases. Normally when we go for steamboats, we only can choose from either Tomyam or Ching Thong right? Well “Flame” offers more than just two, they have Herbal Ching Thong, Ma Lat (spicy and numbing) and even Winter Melon Soup!
My sister’s birthday was coming soon(but already over if you are reading this lol) so we celebrated it here. We ordered the biggest set they have to offer @ RM168 called the “Prosperity Set”, but drinks were not included.
Peanuts, as starters. Let’s move on to see what ingredients were included in the set we had.
First, we have the free chilli sauce, lol. There are six containers here, but only 4 types to choose from actually. They were not very good, one was too sour while the other one was just normal sambal belacan. It would be much better if they had Thai chilli sauce.
Some pretty much normal looking vegetables, fresh nonetheless.
Kimchim mushroom, sui kao, yam paste slices, fish paste cubes(nice!) and some bean curd.
A few slices or pork meat, from the neck perhaps? So few that you can actually count the number of slices given, 6 only.
Even more fish balls, pastes and noodles. Common stuff.
Nicely arranged seafood, with a crab sitting on top of an array of prawns and cuttlefish. Speaking of which, I don’t remember eating any prawns that day, who finished it lol?!
This plate of mutton is actually a side-order. It was being offered as a new item and had a pretty good discount on it. It cost RM28 for a plate(usual price RM48) They were good and do not have the milky taste as disliked by some folks.
Tomyam soup base on the left, Herbal soup base on the right.
What we drank during the meal, Seasons’ Iced Lemon Tea. RM2.80 a can, what a rip off. I could’ve bought 3 cans with that price.. What to do, this is a rather high class restaurant..
Overall I would give this restaurant a 65/100 score. If you fancy steamboat with a variety of soup bases to choose from, along with some special ingredients, you could give it a try. The cheapest set comes at RM38 if I remember correctly which and serves 2, and RM68 for 4-6.
