Big Apple Donuts @ Midvalley The Gardens

July 20, 2008

Now this is something that we can only get in KL and Selangor area.. Big Apple donuts. I wonder when only it will open a branch in Penang and spread the donut craze. RM9.50 for half a dozen, it is surprisingly cheaper than Dunkin Donuts.

The donuts’ making process is publicly shown through the open glass.. which I think is pretty cool. At least there’s something for you to look at while waiting in the ever long queue. But, you will be probably too busy making up your mind choosing from the many flavors Big Apple has to offer.

What I like most among the ones we took is the Alien vs Predator donut (lower left). Why the name? Because they made it specially for the movie. It tastes awesome with lots of chocolate cream topped with even more chocolate strips. Maybe I am biased because I love chocolate lol. To me, it is the most worthy donut to pick for the generous amount of ingredients used.

2nd favorite would be the white chocolate donut filled with peanut butter (lower right) Chocolate + peanut butter.. what’s not to like! The Oreo donut doesn’t really taste like Oreo though.. hmm.

Waroeng Penyet Tradisional Indonesian Food @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

June 16, 2008

Waroeng Penyet Restaurant serves Traditional Indonesian Food and can be found at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. It is a relatively new restaurant, considering the fact that it was opened last year by 4 Indonesians living in Singapore. I came to know about the restaurant through their flyers while shopping at The Curve few weeks ago. Then I remembered a friend, who told me about a good Indonesian restaurant that serves really good fried chickens, which happened to be Waroeng Penyet.

Chili’s @ Midvalley

December 23, 2006

This is an old post, I decided to republish it because of some photo issues. I believe those of you who studied/worked in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor area have seen the restaurant. Its full name is Chili’s Grill & Bar Family Restaurant. From my observation it’s always packed during evening and there are always people queuing for seats, especially in the weekends. Reason is this is a nice place to hangout after a hard day at work, lucky for those who work in Midvalley eh? They can spend every Friday evening here.. but then you gotta have that kind of money to spend.

The interior of the restaurant is lightly dimmed with orange lights, creating a soothing feeling, as though to cure heal your body, mind and soul after a long week. There are small televisions placed strategically in every corner of the restaurant providing sports entertainment.

What’s Chillis called without chilli? :D

Some of the drinks here are labelled with “Bottomless” in front of their names, like “Bottomless Apple Juice”. This type of drink entitles the drinker to have unlimited refills. A good choice if you plan to stay around for a long time. When we tried to order a cup only, we were told they cannot refill it if we intended to share the drink lol. So we ordered “Southwest Sling” @ RM7.95 instead, the ultimate milkshake that is made of chilled pineapple juice, orange juice and vanilla ice cream.

The restaurant is divided into areas in which each is served by a specific roster of waiters. Chilis serves mainly steaks and burgers. In norm, meals are served orderly: appetizer, main course and dessert. Triple play(3P, not the other “3P” ok :P) is an appetizer consisting buffalo wings, fried chicken and egg rolls.

The egg rolls are the best, buffalo wings is a bit spicy(prefer road side BBQ chicken wings more) while the fried chicken tastes like KFC OR chicken… There are three different types of mayonaisse for you to dip. Not sure which is for which but they all taste about the same anyway.

The main course we had was Chicken + Beef steak, Cajun style. Cajun style means its spicy. The steak wasn’t great, I have had better in F1 LOL.. the specialty of this steak is that they provide you with a 4 slices of roti prata(?) and some fillings(not sure what they were) I wasn’t sure of the correct way of eating, so the natural thing to do was to make sandwiches out of it. Tastes good for the first few bites but it tends to get old pretty soon.

Lastly was our dessert, the nicest we had for the whole night. Ironically, we also enjoyed the dessert the most when we went to TGI Friday. The dessert is actually a piece of chocolate cake topped with ice cream and nuts. Heavenly :) Our bill came to RM80+.

Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie - absolutely delicious.

0P now lol, we were stuffed after the meal. By the way, I heard Chili’s going to open up a branch in Penang? That’s good news indeed!
