AEON Seberang Perai City @ Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam
Aug 22nd
22nd August 2008 is the opening day for one of the biggest [tag]shopping mall[/tag] in Northern Malaysia – AEON Seberang Perai City or also known as [tag]Jusco Bandar Perda[/tag] in Bukit Mertajam. It is such a nice coincidence that I happen to be in [tag]Bukit Mertajam[/tag] at the same time it opened the doors to the public.
To be honest I have been waiting for this mall to open for years. Because, we the BM kias really deserve a better mall and [tag]AEON Seberang Perai City[/tag] is the perfect answer.
I think the one of the most exciting part is that the first Big Apple Donuts & Coffee outlet in [tag]Penang[/tag] will also open here. It is something food bloggers in Penang have been anticipating. Best of all, it is only 10 minutes away from my house!
Big Apple Donuts & Coffee @ AEON Seberang Perai City
Aug 22nd
Oh yeah Big Apple Donuts & Coffee has finally opened in [tag]Penang[/tag]. Surprisingly the first Penang outlet is opened in AEON Seberang Perai City or Jusco Bandar Perda in Bukit Mertajam, not any other shopping complexes on the island side.
Today is [tag]AEON Seberang Perai City[/tag]‘s opening day and I just went there with my mom. Guess who has already bought and eaten the donuts, lol.
A box of 6 donuts is RM9.50. Currently [tag]Big Apple[/tag] is having a special Merdeka month promotion where you would get 3 [tag]donut[/tag]s free for every 6 purchased or a box of 6 donuts free with any purchase of box of 12 pieces.
Iced cappucino is also available at a cheap price of RM2.50 with any purchase of box of 12 pieces. You will only get the vouchers after an initial purchase but I am pretty sure the vouchers can be found easily online too.
Ji Bao Gai @ Sentosa Corner Kopitiam
Aug 21st
***This is a filler post***
Currently, I am in [tag]Bukit Mertajam[/tag] 大山脚 and I have very limited access to my blogging tools. So, update will be back to normal again once I get back to Selangor. Anyway, I have been eating quite a lot of Ji Bao Gai (fried paper wrapped chicken) lately in Serdang. Ji Bao Gai is exceptionally popular in Serdang and Seri Kembangan area. Almost all the Yong Tau Fu restaurants there serve it.
Thinking back, I had [tag]Ji Bao Gai[/tag] 纸包鸡 too when I was small in BM. It was different with those in Serdang. To show you, I found a place in Taman Sentosa, BM which sells Hong Kong Stlye Ji Bao Gai as well as [tag]fried chicken[/tag].
If you haven’t tasted Ji Bao Gai before, you are missing out one of the nicest chicken dish in Malaysia. Ji Bao Gai is done by marinating chicken meat – usually chicken wing, thigh and drumstick in soy sauce and seasoning, which is then wrapped in greaseproof paper and deep fried.
Leong Ya 梁雅 is undeniably one of the best known restaurants in Serdang for their Ji Bao Gai. Their version is different because they use ginger and has more gravy. But the one in BM shown above is very dry and taste much like normal honey BBQ chicken. The fried chicken is pretty good though, crispy skin and fresh meat.
The stall is called Winner’s Fried Chicken and can be found in Sentosa Corner kopitiam, Taman Sentosa. It only opens at night. I ate here just a while ago for supper.
Besides Ji Bao Gai(1) and fried chicken(2), they also have fried chicken gizzard(3) and fries(4), like any other fried chicken stalls you’d find lah, lol.
