Andes BYO Pork Burger @ Aman Suria Damansara, PJ
Aug 3rd
Andes BYO is a everything-pork restaurant in Aman Suria Damansara. Among their many porky creations, I suppose the pork burger deserves the most attention since it is pretty rare in PJ.
Although there are four types of pork burgers here (ranging from RM12 to RM16) their differences are not significant, just a matter of toppings used. Depending on your choice, your burger could come with bacon, sauteed onions or mayo – you get the drill. Shown above is the Aussie Bacon Burger Wrap @ RM15.90 that comes with coleslaw and some cheapo, uninspiring fries.
The pork patty is thick and meaty as you can see, done to a perfect tenderness and overflows with melted cheese that oozes out from the inside once you cut it open. I would say the seasoning of the patty was kept pretty much to a minimum, as it would be pretty tasteless without the various condiments. So putting the cheese inside the patty itself was a good move.
Classic Cuisine Restaurant @ Taman Meranti Jaya, Puchong
Jul 31st
Last week me and a few other friends were at Puchong to try out a new restaurant in Taman Meranti Jaya. The name of the said restaurant is Classic Cuisine – 京典名菜. Unlike the normal Puchong you would see while driving along the LDP highway, this area is quite serene and green due to its fairly remote location. Our choices of food that night were mostly signature dishes recommended by the captain. And the funny thing is, coincidentally most of they all came in clay pots too – something we only realized after all the food had arrived.
Red Wine and Hawthorn Berry Pork Ribs (红酒山楂骨) @ RM23 – nicely marinated, rich in taste but not overly sweet. Strawberry and orange bits are cleverly added not only for decoration purpose but also to give the dish a refreshing fruity flavor.
Cendol & Rojak Van @ Section 17 Petaling Jaya
Jul 23rd
If you hang around Section 17 PJ often you would have noticed a cendol and rojak van near KDU that are popular among office workers. Well I am not a big fan of rojak so I am only interested in the cendol. And if you remembered, before this I did mention about another rojak cum cendol near the Taman Bahagia LRT Station, which I thought was pretty good for me at that time. But after discovering this, I never went back to the other one.
Tastiness aside, there are a few more reasons why I like this particular cendol more. Firstly, they provide proper bowls instead of those polystyrene ones – environmental friendlier. Secondly the blades they use are sharper hence able to produce finer shaved ice – I just hate biting on those coarse ice bits. Thirdly, although the price is cheap (RM1.20 small, RM1.50 big) they don’t really stinge on the ingredients so much that you feel like you are just drinking diluted coconut milk.
Jackson’s Burger – Homemade Burger On Wheels @ Section 14, PJ
Jul 6th
For the past few weeks I have been trying to try all the nice food in PJ especially those near my office – more specifically areas like Section 14, Section 17, Taman Paramount, SS2 and Kelana Jaya. Reason being I will be relocating to Puchong soon. I figured that if I don’t explore these places now I will have little chance of doing so in the near future.
At Section 14 there is a mobile burger stall operated by a Chinese husband and wife team who only opens from lunch hour onwards. I would say they are quite popular with the people who live and work in the vicinty. Most customers prefer to take away the burgers but you could also eat it at the spot if you want because chairs are provided. We had our burgers on the spot and it proved to be a refreshing experience.. especially with the windy weather.
