Despite the name, it’s not all lamb at 3 Bags Full. In fact, this rather new establishment at Kota Damansara is set on serving great coffee and interesting dishes in a less than pretentious atmosphere. Both times we were here, we were greeted enthusiastically by the friendly and warm staff who welcomed us like old friends.
At 3 Bags Full there are two sets of menu: brunch & lunch and dinner. The brunch & lunch menu features mostly lighter foods at more affordable prices. Egg-based dishes, waffles and pasta make up most of the selections and not to forget the large choices of hot and cold beverages too.
As the name suggests, one would have expected the Norwegian Benedict @ RM23 to have smoked salmon. But if you studied the description carefully you’d notice that it had turkey ham instead. However, smoked salmon and a handful of other ingredients are available as add-ons for a reasonable price.
Anyway, the poached eggs were well done – warm with that delicious runny consistency in the yolks. Everything else (hollandaise sauce, charcoal muffin and shiitake) was satisfying as well and I liked the crunchy fried asparagus. I thought it was a nice added touch.
The Buffalo Cheese Sandwich @ RM23 was a bit of a letdown considering the price and ingredients which seemed promising. We couldn’t really detect the flavours blueberry mascarpone and buffalo cheese as advertised.
Coffees are reasonably priced here and the standard is up there in my opinion. For non-caffeine drinkers, the milkshakes are great too and definitely worth a try.
Our second visit was during dinner service where more meaty and hearty options are available. The lobster bisque @ RM13 was one of the specials of the day. It was rich, creamy and brimming with flavour just the way we expected it to be.
The Griddled Salmon Fillet @ RM39 was done perfectly – slightly charred on the edges while the center was tender, pink and flakey all the way through. The drizzle of red pepper pesto was absolutely necessary, as it elevated this dish from good to something great. We also appreciated the healthy avocado accompaniment which has always been a classic pairing with salmon.
We were not too agreeable of having fried ginger strands as garnishing, but otherwise the Squid Ink Pasta with Lobster Meat @ RM33 was deliciously briny. The lobster was superbly fresh, sweet and succulent and proved to be quite a decadent experience.
Lastly, for desserts we could not recommend the Sizzling Brownie (RM17) more. Watch as the caramel sauce sizzles as it gets poured over the hot cast iron platter, melting the vanilla chocolate while coating the home-made brownie in the process.
It might sound excessively sweet, but the caramel was actually salted so it balanced off the sweetness of the brownie. A visit to 3 Bags Full might be warranted just for this dessert alone.
