If this roast pork van looks familiar to you, that’s probably because you have seen them around KL – there are 5 of them anyway. Babeloo is their name and I believe it’s referenced from the proprietor’s name. One of their vans is stationed in Kepong Baru and it’s operated by one of his friendly sons.
We are not considered their regular customers since we only buy from them like once a month. There are other customers who buy from Babeloo religiously, especially during Chinese festivals.
For reference purpose, here’s what you get for RM19. They used to entertain orders of RM5-6 last time, but now the minimum order is at least RM12 – not a biggie though if you ask me.
I’d say his roast pork is quite good and I enjoy the lovely thick crackling that coats the meat. Flavor wise it’s different from those you get at the chicken rice stalls (not those melt in your mouth kind too), as Babeloo seasons it differently.
Basically, you have two choices here: sweet and aromatic, or salty. I’d recommend trying the sweet one first (in fact it’s still quite salty) to gauge your personal liking. And as usual, come early for the best parts as they tend to finish quicker.
All the meat are weighed for price so you don’t have to worry about being short-changed. Despite being a food truck, hygiene is satisfactory considering he never takes the money from his customers after handling the roast pork. He also covers the meat with a plastic sheet when necessary.
Besides Kepong Baru, you can also find Babeloo in Taman OUG, Sri Petaling (Tuesdays only) and Pandan Perdana.
