Just when you think Kepong has enough steamboat restaurants, a couple more new ones popped up over the last year.
Bamboo Garden seems to be doing the best business out of the lot, mainly because they are willing to advertise aggressively online. But of course, their food is not bad to begin with.

The restaurant is located right next to The Challenger’s Sports Centre. There are plenty of parking space available at the doorstep.

Kepong Bamboo Garden Steamboat Meal

‘Bone Soup’ is Bamboo Garden’s signature soup and it’s chargeable at RM18 per serving with unlimited top up. Besides the ‘bone soup’ we also picked the tom yam soup @ RM4 for a mixed pot. If you do not wish to pay extra, the normal clear soup is provided free of charge. The last option is ‘Ma Lat’ (spicy soup) which costs RM20.

Bamboo Garden Steamboat 1 Person Set

Bamboo Garden Steamboat Seafood Set

The set menu is priced at RM17.80 per pax and they don’t impose a minimum order, so couples can share a single portion. The selection of ingredients are pretty standard of what you get at any other steamboat restaurants in KL, but you can tell that the quality is better – even for those processed items.

Bamboo Garden Steamboat Pork Belly Slices

As usual, we ordered the pork belly slices @ RM11.80.

Bamboo Garden Steamboat Meatballs

Handmade meat ball combo @ RM15.80 – the platter includes squid, prawn, mushroom pork and cuttle fish balls. All of them are delicious, this gets my thumbs up.

Bamboo Garden Steamboat Dumplings

Handmade dumpling @ RM8.80 – every piece is filled with generous amount of meat and turn plump and tender after being cooked. Worth the price, recommended as well.

Bamboo Garden Chilli Sauce

Bamboo Garden’s sauces are pretty good too. If you like it spicy, the pinkinsh one is almost twice as spicy as the red.

As for the soups, the tom yam tasted alright, a tad thin for my liking but it’s still packed a serious level of heat. The ‘bone soup’ on the other hand, is tasty enough with a light peppery kick.
However, there’s still room for improvement as we felt the soup could be thicker and a little creamier. In this regard, Popo Steamboat Cafe still offers the best pork bone style steamboat soup in Kepong.

Bamboo Garden Steamboat Restaurant

Overall, it was a satisfying dinner and we wouldn’t mind returning to Bamboo Garden again for the fresh ingredients, great chili sauces and friendly service.
