Hobby N Coffee could very well be the perfect place for enthusiastic board and card game players to hangout alongside a cuppa while nibbling over light snacks. This simplistic establishment is the brainchild of a husband and wife team who combined their interests into a cafe cum sewing class.

With any purchase of coffee, patrons are allowed to help themselves to a wide range of games, mostly board based including popular titles such as Dungeons & Dragons and Settlers of Catan.
Other interactive games include Jenga, Monopoly Deal (one of my favorites) and Cluedo, and these are really just a handful among the dozens. If you feel like getting into board games but don’t have enough ‘kaki’, public gaming sessions are available for you to play and consequently, make new friends.

Coffees here are brewed with Italian roasted Bristot beans for a strong taste, and often styled with cute latte art. Imagine Angry Birds, Pikachu and panda characters.
The only downside about the coffee is the price which is on the slightly higher side – maybe a ringgit or two compared to the rest. But considering you get access to all the games available here for hours of enjoyment, I don’t see why it’d hurt to pay a little more. Also, all the pastries you see here are baked in house and sold at very affordable prices too.

Free sewing classes and workshops are held here frequently (that explains the fabrics) and like the board games, the sewing machines are free to use as long as you get a cup of coffee or tea. I am not really a sewing person so here’s their Facebook page if you’re interested to join up with other sewing hobbyists.

Hobby N Coffee Board-Game

I am sure most of us are guilty of fiddling with our mobile phones whenever we are out to yumcha with friends and family. So maybe at Hobby N Coffee that might change. I could imagine a family, where the father is having fun with the kids over a board game while the mother is sewing up some new pillowcases at the side. Now that’s something I’d very much like to see instead of everyone looking down at their phones and not having face to face interactions.
