Although the MIGF Festival Gala Launch is an exclusive media preview, you could expect a similar scene at TasteMIGF when it is open for public on 7th (today) & 8th Sep 2013 from 11am-11pm at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. Come join the fun, it will be a party with tantalizing food and great music at the specially created Theatre of Cuisines.
Here are my some of my favorite booths among the 28 restaurants that took part in the event. In no particular order:
1) TEN (a must try, especially the Yuzu Sorbet)
2) Sagano (all-round flavorful dishes)
3) Nathalie Cuisine Gourmet (turn up early or miss out her fantastic macaroons)
4) nook (highly recommended, just love their unique Nasi Lemak with Wagyu Cheek Rendang. Laksa Sarawak with Lobster is good too)
Other events held in conjunction with TasteMIGF are the Epicure International Gourmet Village where you could sample and shop from 80 stations serving a wide range of produce, as well as Epicure Lifestyle Workshops where you could participate in exclusive cooking classes, wine appreciation and other lifestyle objects.
If you’re wondering, here are some samples of the taste portions’ size from different restaurants. Most of the taste portions cost only 1 token but for some dishes that are made with more expensive ingredients they cost 2 to 3 tokens. Upper left: nook’s popular and delicious nasi lemak. Lower left: Ten’s Wagyu Maki.
Besides covering the event, the invited media also took part in judging the participating restaurants in various categories. These include most innovative dish, best all-round menu, best booth and best dish presentation. Putrajaya Mariott Hotel’s booth managed to attract lots of attention with their mermaid greeter. She gives out freebies too so do pay her a visit. I like Ten’s simple yet artistic booth design which has a zen feel to it. As for the classiest it has got to be Lafite’s, they managed to replicate the fine dining feel alright.
The ever popular and friendly Chef Wan made an appearance as well. If you are a fan, don’t miss meeting him in person at 11am today during his cooking demonstration.
Live band, talented and entertaining as well.
Female dancers dressed in colorful and flashy costumes add a carnival atmosphere to the event. They are extremely popular with the guests too, so much that everyone wants to have their photo taken with them.
To enter the TasteMIGF event, all you need to do is buy Taste Tokens. These Taste tokens are valued at RM5 each and sold in booklets of 10. You could purchase them at the counters at the venue itself or buy them online in advance to enjoy a special 5% discount.
