Among all the restaurant deals that are happening in Fave (previously Groupon) currently, Villa Danieli‘s Sunday Italian Brunch Buffet is one that deserves more attention. Priced originally at RM148 nett/pax, it is now being offered at RM190 for 2 so that’s a savings of 36%.
And since the purchase exceeds RM150, there’s a promo code which you could use to get an extra RM25 off. After applying all the discounts and what not, the brunch buffet becomes RM82.50 nett/pax.
The Italian brunch buffet starts from 11am and ends at 3pm. So you have plenty of time to eat, drink, talk, enjoy the live performance or just soak in the atmosphere. Appetizers are served between 11am and 12pm and you can help yourself to the array of seafood, antipasto, carving, Italian cheese and pizza.
The seafood on ice was great and we were satisfied with the freshness of the oysters, prawns and clams. The carving station also stood out, as the cuts of meat used were of high quality and cooked perfect medium rare. We liked the herb crusted lamb a lot.
When it hits 12pm you can then start to order the mains, all prepared a la minute. FYI all of the dishes can be ordered repeatedly, even the foie gras and there’s no limit to what you can have. Compared to the traditional buffet where the food is laid out on self service tables, this definitely offers a better experience.
We did not manage to try everything but our favorites included the Slow Cooked Beef Short Ribs with Caponata…
Mixed Grilled Seafood platter.
Red Snapper Fillet with marinated grilled vegetable.
Braised Lamb Shank with Polenta.
Chicken Cacciatore.
Mussel Scoppiate in White Wine.
Among all the mains we had, the only one that that didn’t quite make the mark was the Seafood Risotto, mainly because it was overcooked. The chef did offer a replacement so it was well handled, no biggie.
Desserts were just alright and personally I think they could do much better. The chocolate calzone was kind of ‘meh’ but the accompanying ice creams were nice.
All in all, we enjoyed our Sunday afternoon at Villa Danieli and felt that it’s worth recommending for anyone looking for a relaxed yet somewhat fine-dining buffet. I wouldn’t say the food is superb but the price matches the value of what you get – luxurious interior, ambiance and superb service.
