The most beautiful restaurant in Langkawi? I wouldn’t know. But I am pretty sure The Cliff Restaurant & Bar is one of the tops for having the best sea view in Langkawi, and maybe even the whole of Malaysia.
For those at Langkawi planning on celebrating a special occasion but the price and tastiness of the food are not of the utmost priorities, I highly recommend this atmospheric restaurant with all my heart.
Stone path leading to the restaurant, flanked by the beach on the right and greenery on the left.
The best time to dine here is a no-brainer: evening. Not only you get to enjoy an unobstructed view of the busy Pantai Cenang beach over the meal, you could also capture the moment when the sun sets in the Andaman sea with your loved ones. A well-thought-out seating plan means every diner could catch the sunset over the meal at the comfort of their seat.
Baked Canelloni of Seafood @ RM34. Crispy prawn, tomato salsa Fresca, light creamy pepper sauce.
Even though the dishes here seem fairly priced and presentation is top notch, they failed to live up to their promising looks. Based on what we had, I would say that the food here is just passable – maybe slightly above average but certainly no better or worse than most of the restaurants of the same standard. That being said, I am not going into length about the individual dishes. But I reiterate my earlier point that my recommendation of The Cliff is only for the romantic ambiance and charming views.
Western/Malay fusion would be best used to describe the chef’s idea here, and it is not surprising to see seafood dominates most sides of the menu with only a few selections of meat and poultry. The mocktails and fruint punches (Tropical Smoother + Cliffer Dream, both RM14) are drinkable at best. If you enjoy alcoholic beverages then you will be pleased to know that a complimentary glass of wine (red or white) is served for every main course ordered.
When our main courses arrived, the sun had set almost completely and the brilliant red skies cast a warm glow on our table.
Andaman Barramundi @ RM49. Lychee & Longan Chili Compote – crispy golden prawn, mango dragon fruit chili salsa.
Malaba Grouper Paupiette @ RM49. Mushroom Ragout – grilled sea scallop.
Some extra shots of the lovely restaurant taken later in the evening before the day became completely dark. The restaurant was officiated by Tun Dr.Mahathir less than two years ago.
