The latest shopping mall in Melaka – The Shore Shopping Gallery was officially launched last weekend by Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB). Strategically located on the river cruise/monorail route and opposite the Eye of Melaka, The Shore Shopping Gallery is only a short drive away from the heart of this historic state.
The stylish lifestyle-tourism focused shopping mall is home to over 100 stores to satisfy your shopping desires. Shoppers will find themselves spoilt for choices with an impressive selection of restaurants, a multitude of international and local fashion stores. Some of the big names include Pandora, TANGS Lifestyle Store, Sushi Zanmai, La Bodega and even a Lot 10 Hutong Food Gallery.
But one of the most impressive tenants got to be The Shore Oceanarium. This latest tourist attraction features the world’s longest aquarium tunnel, world’s longest coral reef aquarium and South East Asia’s first 360° view aquarium tunnel. No wonder it is poised to attract at least 200,000 local and overseas visitors.
The upgraded ‘Boardwalk’, a term used for the wooden walkway built to accommodate tourist who intend to ‘walk on water’ will provide a solid pedestrian footpath for visitors to walk along the river line and also serve as an alternative path to Jonker Street and to other historical sites. Guests will be fascinated by the Mangrove Walkway where they can see that the mudflats have holes, some big and some tiny — indicating that crabs, cockles, shellfishes and small animals live in them.
24 street drum, silat and high pole lion dance performances were held at the main entrance of the mall to welcome the VIPs attending the launching ceremony. Among the present were Melaka Chief Minister Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Idris Haron, PHB Managing Director and CEO Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman and Kerjaya Prospek Group CEO Datuk Tee Eng Ho.
All the performances were top notch and everyone was particularly thrilled by the lion dance troupe which did an impressive variety of acrobatic moves.
Datuk Seri Idris Haron gave an inspiring speech that night. One of the highlights of his speech was about his recent trip to Guangdong where he witnessed the signing of MOU between Melaka and Guangdong to boost economy and tourism sector of both states. Due to this, the tourist arrival from China to Melaka is expected to increase by 35%.
Other attractions of the mall would be the Riverside Promenade by Malacca River. The Promenade will tantalise patrons with its beautifully landscaped musical fountain, an amphitheatre for both outdoor and indoor events and eateries.
Datuk Seri then signed the plaque, commemorating the official opening of The Shore Shopping Gallery. As a token of appreciation, a photo frame of the mall was presented to Datuk Seri as souvenir for his valuable presence.
To celebrate the opening, the lucky one millionth customer was greeted at the mall’s main entrance where he received the prize of a two days one night stay inclusive of breakfast for two at Swiss Garden Hotel & Residences Malacca.
Also up for grabs in the Grand Draw Rewards Programme is RM15,000 worth of prizes sponsored by various tenants in the mall. Other fun-filled activities during the day included fashion showcases by TANGS and Sixty Three Heritage, colouring competition by Oceanarium and goodie bags give-away.
