Malaysia Food Blog, Malaysia Travel Blog

BM Kia says..
As I read through my blog posts for 2008, I found most of them are restaurant related reviews. I think this is deviating from my original purpose of food blogging, which is to discover and promote local foods, especially hawker fares. If not, it wouldn't be fit to be called "Malaysia Food Blog" So, my main aim of blogging for year 2009 would be to continue to do what I actually enjoyed the most - to travel, discover and promote cheap and tasty food.

Zui Xiang Lou Restaurant (revisit)

More food to show from Zui Xiang Lou we had celebrating my father’s retirement last weekend!

Cold plate aka Five Seasons. There were baby octopus, signature tofu, sweet and sour chicken, salad prawn and scrambled eggs with shark’s fin in the center. Five Seasons is a very common dish you will see in wedding dinners. All tasted great except the baby octopus. Looking at the baby octopus reminded me of those in Sushi King, and I think they were trying to emulate the taste too.

This bowl of shark fin soup is so big that the 7 of us had 2 servings each. As you can see the shark fins given are really a lot, and thick too! It’s very worth the RM40 we paid for.

Zui Xiang Lou’s Buddha’s delight (lo han jai) is very good, one of the best we’ve had in Bukit Mertajam.

Another repeat order, the fried mee tiao.. nothing worth writing home about.
