Chulia Street Mother and Son Wantan Mee

Posted by: vkeong In: Food and Drink| Hawker Food| Penang ()

Two weeks ago I posted about a famous curry mee in Chulia Street, this time it’s about the mother and son wantan mee stall selling beside it. It is named mother and son simply because a mother and her son are operating it.

The mother would boil the noodles while the son prepares the ingredients and serve customers. I think she looks kinda cool in this photo lol.

Left one is regular, right one is large portion.. total is RM5.30. Business is brisk and you can see the big pile of wantan noodle ready to be cooked, so you could estimate the amount of customers in one night alone. I think that’s roughly triple the amount of a usual hawker would sell..

As you can see, their wantan mee is on the wetter side. There’s nothing fantastic about their wantan mee, but it is definitely one of the nicer ones in Penang. I think for the next visit I am gonna try the yee fu mee/hokkien char stall, looks great lol. For good wantan mee in Bukit Mertajam, you gotta try the one beside Tua Pek Kong temple. It’s the best for me.

Is this the stall next to the curry mee in chulia street? if so, this is one of the famous wanton mee… if you ta pau back home and you happen to stay in bayan lepas area, … the noodle will not be expanded and it’s still crunchy and tender like just boil on the spot.
