We probably wouldn’t have known that Doma exists if we weren’t frequent customers of Taiko Japanese Cuisine. Although the restaurant is one of the largest around, it’s a bit tricky to spot it because it’s tucked away and almost totally hidden from the main road. But once you go up the stairs to reach Shoplex Mont Kiara, it’s impossible to miss it.
Doma’s menu offers most of the usual suspects of a typical Korean joint, one of them being Bingsu. There are a handful of flavors to choose from priced between RM13 and RM15 each.
We had the Blueberry Cheese Cake Bingsu @ RM15 which you can see had a lackluster presentation and that certainly did not impress. I am not sure if that’s the way it was intended to be served with all the syrup dripping away like that. Nevertheless it tasted alright, we have had better.
Fortunately, things went uphill from here. Their ‘KFC’ a.k.a. Korean Fried Chicken (half @ RM29) was delicious and we especially loved those seasoned with spicy and sweet soy sauce.
I think it’s pretty safe for me to say that you can ignore the original flavored KFC because it didn’t do much for us. Not to say it was terrible or anything, just that it paled in comparison to those with seasoning.
The BBQ Pork Ribs @ RM29 did not disappoint either and it met our expectations for a good rib. It’s fall off the bone tender, there’s plenty of meat on every side and the seasoning is spot on with a balanced sweet and savory flavor.
The minty green apple salad was great too, it’s really refreshing and juicy. I feel this should be a more popular side dish as opposed to the usual slaw, chips, mash or corn on the cob.
If you are a Korean Fried Chicken lover, do know that Doma’s KFC is 50% off for half a chicken on every Tuesday. So Tuesdays are the best day to visit here and try the food out for yourselves.
