Yo! I am already at my home in Bukit Mertajam for the Chinese New Year holidays~ The first thing I did with my family was making some awesome cookies like pineapple and strawberry jam tarts and almond cookies. They look damn tempting and taste super delicious! You just couldn’t compare them with those sold outside at all, homemade for the win!
Pineapple jam tarts are a must for us during Chinese New Year. Guess who’s gonna put up some extra pounds lol. Let me show you the process..

While I was flipping through the newspaper one Sunday, a particular food related article caught my attention. Usually I won’t pay much attention to the articles because they are introducing foods mostly located in KL.
But, the article that day talked about the Sisters famous Curry Laksa noodles at Seapark opening a branch in Bandar Puteri Puchong. Being a [tag]curry noodles[/tag] fan, I copied down the address and contact number immediately from the newspaper, with a plan already in mind to visit it soon.
One of the highlighted noodles was Seafood Curry Laksa @ RM11.80, said to come with huge prawns and lots of fresh squids and cockles. To be honest, I was kinda skeptical at first on how much seafood they could possibly give. Luckily my worries did not materialize, as the noodles was true to its claim and came with plenty of [tag]seafood[/tag]. I think a big whole squid was served with the curry laksa, you can judge the quantity from the photo.
The Seafood [tag]Curry Laksa[/tag]‘s portion was big, tasted great and the seafood was cooked just right especially the squids. I can’t recall having any more tender squids than this.. they were not not rubbery at all! Prawns’ size was more than satisfactory and most importantly, fresh from the sea and not sourced from the farm.

Bagel had always been something similar to donut to me mainly because of their very similar appearance. You know, the ring shape. In fact, some people consider bagel as a harder version of donut. But little do they (me included) know that bagel and doughnut are actually very different, right from the ingredients to cooking method.
Bagel ‘n’ Coffee Station at Hartamas shopping complex is one of the very few cafes in KL that serves healthy, fresh daily-made bagels. I am quite surprised that I am actually the first person to blog about this cafe!
[tag]Bagel[/tag] ‘n’ [tag]Coffee[/tag] Station offers a vast variety of bagels (no less than 50) so you are really spoilt for choices here. One of them being Roast Beef Bagel @ RM14.60 from the Deluxe Bagels section. The bagel is first sliced through the middle, then thin slices of roast beef and fresh salad (cucumber, green pepper, tomato) are placed in between. This is followed by a light spray of olive oil vinaigrette on top. Lastly, with the top slice of the bagel in place, it is cut into half and served with salad.

I have been to Nam Heong coffee shop a couple of times but never had the luck to try their Char Koay Teow, said to be quite good and recommended by many. In my past visits, either I was too late or the stall just didn’t open. I don’t know why, but I tend to reach [tag]Nam Heong[/tag] around 4 to 5pm everytime, which is also the time the stall would close for business.
Just a few weeks ago, I was at [tag]Ipoh[/tag] for a one day trip and went to Nam Heong again. This time, I was lucky and the stall was still open. Do you know how close I was? I was their last customer for the day!
Since I was the last customer for them, they double checked with us whether one plate was enough, lol. Costing RM3.50 a plate, the [tag]Char Koay Teow[/tag] did live up to its reputation, albeit a rather small portion. Prawns were big and juicy, cockles were fresh and it had good wok hei. Basically nothing to complain about the Char Koay Teow.
