Road Side Roti Canai @ Transfer Road, Penang

Many people claim that the Roti Canai stall at Transfer Road is the best in Penang. Well firstly, let me just say that statement might be a bit of a stretch, as I don’t feel the roti canai was anything fantastic. But, the curries that come along are worth trying.

I also want to highlight that if you are a person who prefer to dine properly in an acceptably clean environment, you may stop reading and forget about this place. Yeah it’s really old and famous and all but simple hygiene is evidently forgotten here.

Sara Thai Kitchen by Wan Seafood & Tomyam @ Jalan Gambut, Kuantan

Was at Kuantan a few days ago and had an awesome seafood meal at Sara Thai Kitchen. It was sheer luck that we stumbled upon this popular Thai restaurant among the locals, as our hotel was only a stone’s throw away. Being a coastal town, seafood is abundance and fresh. Best of all the dishes are so affordable and may I even say cheap! You simply won’t get this kind of pricing in KL.

Ikan Siakap Goreng Tiga Rasa @ RM30. The fish was done perfectly with a crispy outside while retaining its its soft, flaky texture inside. Its size was huge, enough to be shared among 4-5 people and very fresh without any hint of farmed taste.
Siakap is one of the most popular fishes in Thai cuisine, usually steamed in a garlic lime juice (Sara Thai Kitchen’s signature style) But since we already had a steamed fish in our last dinner we decided to try a different style. The sweet, sour and spicy the sauce combined with the natural sweetness of the fish creates an appetizing flavor that would leave you asking for more.

Bar B Q Plaza – Perfect For These Rainy Days

Rainy days are here again and the rain seems to follow me wherever I go. It was raining when I was in KL for the past few weeks. It was also raining when I went Bukit Tinggi and Kuantan few days ago.

It is just one of those days that I really crave for a stomach-warming meal like barbeque and steamboat.

My Europe Trip 2010 – Vatican City

Thanks to the holiday season I finally have some time to update on my almost-abandoned Europe trip series. Continued from Rome, this post about Vatican City would be a short one and more on photos because the experience was akin to visiting a humongous musuem.

Vatican City

So there is nothing much I could talk about. Plus, I am not a historian anyway. We spent a total of three nights in Rome and we actually visited Vatican City (it is located within Rome if you didn’t know already) on our second day.

There are a couple of ways you could reach Vatican City but the best way would be taking the metro. I highly recommend you to see the museums first because the queue could get freaking long (see pic above, and that’s only a quarter of the entire queue!) So, wake up early and get there early, by 9am at least.

If you are really desperate to skip the line, you could take up the so-called guided group tour for around €20 a pax if not mistaken. We were glad we did not purchase the guided group tour, as most of them still had to queue at the group line.

Vatican Museums is worth visiting because besides being one of the greatest in the world, it also houses the immense collection built up by the Roman Catholic Church since its foundation in the early 16th century. Millions of tourists throng the museum annually.
