I read from some blogs saying that Uncle Seng Fresh Own Made Noodles @ SS15 Subang Jaya is pretty good and worth a try. So last weekend on the way to Kepong we made a stop for lunch there. I was shocked by the number of customers crowding the place, from students to families. Usually this would be a good sign of things to come. But unfortunately it turned out to be a disappointing experience.
I bet many are going to disagree with what I am going to say about Uncle Seng’s noodles. But first, lets just agree that we all have different taste buds – and I am in no way saying mine is better. I’ve never been a food critic and I will never be one. Criticizing food has never been the reason I started this blog. Anything about me disliking a particular food is just my sole opinion and please don’t get offended even if you 101% disagree with me.
Types of noodles offered here range from Char Siew Wan Tan, Braised Pork, Chicken Feet Mushroom, Curry Chicken etc – you get the drift. Combination like Curry Chicken and Char Siew is allowed as long as you are willing to pay extra. The price for a bowl ranges somewhere from RM4.60 to RM7.80. Click here to continue reading >

Most of you should know Full House @ NZX (Niu Ze Xui) by now so I won’t go into details about the restaurant. Those who have visited it know how its uniqueness and how the restaurant is decorated to make customers feel like they are dining at someone’s home – a very beautiful home.
I find it a bit too girlish though, so it would be awkward if you are eating there with a bunch of guys lol. It’s more of a couple restaurant if you ask me.. nice for a evening outing or to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Rumors have it that the restaurant is inspired by the popular Korean Drama titled Full House as well, and the owner is a Korean too. Well that’s something to ponder on.
By the way if you feel weird about the restaurant’s location, called Niu Ze Xui (which translates to Cow Car Water) you are not the only one. But do you know Singapore’s MRT stop for Chinatown is called Niu Ze Xui too? Hmm.
I have seen many menus before and I have to say Full House’s menu is the cutest of all. No fancy photos or lengthy descriptions of the food required. So Tracy’s favorite meal consists of Carbonara Spaghetti, cream of chicken soup, lime juice and ice cream. If your name’s really Tracy would you order accordingly?
And Thomas is more of a local flavored guy so he prefers Nasi Lemak with Rendang Chicken, Mushroom Cappuccino Soup, Ice Lemon Tea and ice cream. Apparently he loves Rendang Chicken so much he got himself a live one to cook later..
Since we are neither named Tracy nor Thomas we ordered different stuff. Just kidding. Those sets you saw just now are only available during lunch hour as set lunch. We were there for dinner so we ordered ala carte. Click here to continue reading >

First thing first, enough of Ramadhan Buffet. I think I have blogged enough of it for this year. So, what’s better than Ramadhan Buffet? Definitely Bazaar Ramadhan. Every year during Ramadan month I will go to the bazaar nearest to my place, which is usually smaller in scale. But this year I decided to do something different and visit a more grand one instead. Many people are saying that the Bazaar Ramadhan at Shah Alam Stadium is very huge and also the best in Malaysia.
When I reached Shah Alam Stadium’s entrance yesterday evening, I was shocked to see not a single tent in sight. Luckily there was a guard around and he told us that the bazaar is actually held on the other side of the stadium, on a carpark to be exact. If not for that I would have gone home already lol. For me I feel the best time to visit the bazaar is around 4pm (weekends, of course) when there’s lesser people – you get to survey the stalls more comfortably and freely.
The first thing that caught our attention was the Ayam Golek. It was simply the highlight of the Bazaar Ramadhan. It’s hard not to feel fascinated by the number of skewered whole chickens being barbecued slowly over gas and charcoal in a rotational movement. They were also perfect for photos and I am going to show lots, and I mean lots of them lol.
Some Ayam Golek stations have an automatic roller, while some still required manual rotation.
When they are ready they will be taken to the stall front and sold hot and fresh. The price for a whole bird ranged from RM12 to RM15, depending on the size.
Because Ayam Golek is barbecued over slow fire the meat is very juicy and tender, even the chicken breast part.
We bought half a bird from Restoran Jaring @ RM8 and it was sooooooo good. The marinate was just a simple combination of honey and lemongrass but the taste and aroma of the chicken was just so so great.
They say better buy Ayam Golek barbecued over charcoal than gas because gas might be poisonous? I don’t really know lol.
Food on sticks, not exactly tasty but the children love it.
Barbecued Chicken Wings @ RM1.50 each.
Pan fried skewers.
It’s good to know the chefs were wearing face masks amidst the H1N1 flu outbreak.
Jugs of cendol selling for RM3 each, so tempting and colorful. Click here to continue reading >

Much has been said about Tasty Pot, a BBQ and steamboat buffet restaurant at Sunway Mentari. Thanks to the publicity generated by HoChak and a group of bloggers who have recently done a food review session there, the place was doing brisk business – definitely one of the busiest steamboat restaurants at Sunway Mentari.
This is quite an accomplishment itself considering the strong competition. If you don’t know, Sunway Mentari is like a place where steamboat restaurants gather at. There are like more than 10 steamboat restaurants here and the number is still growing.
The variety of seafood at Tasty Pot is good and the freshness level is high. And the portion of the seafood is big too especially the crabs, proving to be a value for money.
Bamboo clams, lala and prawns.
Some processed food – meat balls and sui gao. Click here to continue reading >
