KFC Zinger Maxx
Feb 9th
KFC Zinger Maxx is an improved version from the normal [tag]KFC[/tag] [tag]Zinger[/tag] [tag]Burger[/tag]. It has a different type of bun, called the kaiser bun. Interesting name for a bun lol, got a bit Japanese feel to it. Anyway it is a popular bread in the Western countries, and usually topped with poppy or sesame seed, as seen in the picture.
Besides that, KFC also added a slice of cheese to Zinger Maxx. Good choice, it certainly made the burger tastier. And the cheese melts nicely from the heat of the chicken fillet.
The chicken fillet I had was a bit out of shape lol.. I thought it was supposed to be in perfect round shape
We also had a dinner meal, 3 pieces of hot and spicy chicken. I always preferred hot and spicy to original recipe. Original ones taste saltish and smaller in size. Bottomline is.. if you loved Zinger, you will love [tag]Zinger Maxx[/tag] even more!
And by the way, what’s up with Prosperity Burger? Anyone can enlighten me why is it good? No offense to people who like it, but personally I think it’s crap. Few years ago I had one and threw it away after the first bite. It only has black pepper taste, nothing else. And people either love it a lot, or loathe it like me.
KFC Alaskan Fish Burger
Jan 20th
How much is 1 set with soft drink and coleslaw? RM7.70
Where did I have it at? [tag]KFC[/tag] [tag]Queensbay[/tag]
Did I use the 20% discount voucher? Was it accepted? Yes, after discount it’s RM6.60+
If I order it ala carte? RM5.30
Is it as big as expected? No, the promotion posters did a really good job portraying it ![]()
Is it bigger than its nearest competitor? Yeah, the burger is thicker
Was I satisfied? Yes. It tasted quite good actually. Its fillet is crunchier and certainly packed more fish meat (compared to its nearest competitor)
Will I try it again? Of course!
Which is nicer, KFC or its nearest competitor? IMO, both are equally good. But I don’t really like KFC’s side order. Still prefer good ol’ fries.
What is that nearest competitor? McD lo, who else? ![]()
Last comments: I wanted to try if KFC would give a money back if I requested for it. All I had to do was fill in a form at the cashier. I have always wondered if these fast food chains will live up to their words.. But I didn’t do it because the [tag]Alaskan Fish Burger[/tag] is good enough.
1901 Hot Dog
Dec 17th
When I first saw [tag]1901 Hot Dog[/tag], I thought it’s a US-based fast food franchise. But it turns out that 1901 is actually a local franchise started back in 1997. The founders are Tengku Rozidar and A. Zakir, who named it 1901 based on hot dog’s history.
The term hot dog was coined in 1901 by a sports cartoonist named Tad Dorgan. He was at the New York Polo Grounds, where he had heard some vendors selling red hot dachshund sausages. This prompted him to draw a cartoon of a real dachshund covered with mustard on a bun. Since he did not know how to spell dachshund he wrote on the caption “get your hot dogs.” The cartoon was a hit and the name persisted.
1901 offers hot dogs like New York Chicken (the best), Texas Ted, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Beef etc. Each hot dog can be differentiated by their unique combination of ingredients. By the way, these are bought in [tag]Queensbay[/tag]
For New York Chicken, it would be mayonaise and pickles. Tastes good, definitely the best hot dog among all.
Mustard for Chicago Beef. Not as good as New York Chicken but if you like beef, why not?
I had my first taste of 1901 hot dog in Midvalley Megamall’s cinema complex last year. It’s quite boring to have popcorns every movie session. 1901 is doing very well, having to opened around 30 outlets in [tag]Malaysia[/tag]. Soon, it will be venturing overseas to Saudi Arabia. Quite a feat for Bolehland considering it started just from a hot dog stand in Sunway Pyramid. I feel that 1901 can be more popular and competitive if they could lower their prices. A set meal of a hot dog and a soft drink already costs around RM5-6. That’s also the price for a set meal in McD (with fries).
KFC X-Meal, Chick’n Fingers
Sep 5th
Chick’n Fingers is [tag]KFC[/tag]‘s latest menu item. Basically it is similar to nuggets just that it has a hint of BBQ taste. I bought it out of curiosity to complement my X-Meal, which had its wedges replaced with crinkel cut fries. Either way, I think they fail
I never liked wedges because it leaves a weird taste in my mouth. And the crinkel cut fries.. became soft when I reached home. Anyway, the Hot n Spicy fried chicken and Colonel Burger were as nice as before. And Zinger remains as my favorite among KFC’s ever changing menu..
