Nyonya Cendol & Kuih @ East & West Rendezvous Cafe, Lorong Hang Jebat (Jonker Street)
May 9th
Move over Jonker 88, I have found a better Durian Cendol in Melaka at East & West Rendezvous cafe. You are famous alright – buzzing with tourist customers for almost anytime of the day and there is no doubt your cendols are decent. But to endure the long queue for a bowl? It just ain’t worth my time and sweat anymore.
This is by far the best Durian Cendol I have had in Melaka and it is still relatively under-appreciated due to the fact that everyone still flocks to Jonker 88. East & Went Rendezvous’ signature Nyonya Cendol has finely shaved ice that is almost fluffy and flavored with 100% Gula Melaka.
The difference is quite noticeable at the first tasting. Besides being more fragrant, its overall sweetness is just right and the dollop of real durian flesh (instead of using syrup) are very good too. So even if I try, there is nothing worth nitpicking about.
Visiting Toy Story Land & Flights of Fantasy Parade @ Hong Kong Disneyland
May 7th
** This post is a continuation to my Hong Kong Disneyland trip.
Since the weather forecast predicted there will be rain with occasional thunder in the second day of our trip, we anticipated the worst of not being able to see the Flights of Fantasy Parade as well as visiting Toy Story Land. But to our pleasant surprise, the weather was only cloudy in the morning then sunny with clear blue skies for the rest of the day.
This is the shuttle bus I mentioned previously. We hopped on to get to Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel for our breakfast at the Victorian themed Enchanted Garden Restaurant which starts at 9.30am.
Coffee & Cakes @ The Bee, Publika Solaris Dutamas
May 4th
The crazily hot weather recently got me bad and I was sick (cough + sore throat) for most of last week. Because of that I had to refrain from having any coffee and my system was craving for a cuppa badly. So as soon as I got better, I went to The Bee at Publika to get a fix of caffeine.
Part of the reason that I chose The Bee was because it was suggested by a reader, who felt the coffee is nearly as good as those he had in Melbourne.
The Bee is the complete opposite of the other pretentious cafe we visited not long ago. It is spacious to seat any group of any size comfortably, still offers a wide range of coffee at believeable prices and there is a positive vibe going on in the restaurant. It makes you wanna stay and linger just a little bit longer here, perfect for gathering with friends and family.
A Magical Weekend at Hong Kong Disneyland – Attractions, Rides, Shows and Food
May 1st
Last weekend was a magical one because I got to spend it with my dear wife in Hong Kong Disneyland. It was our second visit together to Hong Kong and I think it is incredible that we had entered Disneyland three times – all in the span of less than a year. This time, we had the opportunity to visit the new Toy Story Land (more on the upcoming post) as well as catching the Flights of Fantasy Parade which we missed during our last visit.
That being said, we still have not thoroughly explored Hong Kong Disneyland, get on all the rides and watch all the shows they have. So you can imagine how huge the theme park is and there are just too many things to see and do. I will recommend at least a two days tour if you are serious to fully enjoy Hong Kong Disneyland.
As soon as we reached Chek Lap Kok International Airport, we took a taxi to Disneyland’s Hollywood Hotel where we were staying to meet up with our personal tour guides. The taxi ride (~HKD137) was recommended by the airport staff as the cheapest and fastest way to Disneyland, as compared to taking the MRT and Airport Express or bus.
