As a food lover, there’s nothing more important than having a good oral health to enjoy the myriad of food selections in Malaysia. And these, of course, also include icy desserts we can’t live without like ice cream, cendol, ABC and many more. Can you imagine a world without any icy treats? That’d be a sad world I’d never want to live in, ever.
For those who have never had any problem enjoying cold food, good for you. However, based on the research by Ipsos (a global market research company), the reality is that there are many Malaysians who experience discomfort and even pain from the simple joy of eating or drinking something cold.
This is caused by tooth sensitivity and it’s a common dental problem among young adults, aged between 18 to 34. Furthermore, it is also found that 40% of them are are not taking control of their oral health conditions.
Among all the findings, what surprised me the most is that despite tooth sensitivity being the highest oral health problem among Malaysians, only a third of them use sensitive toothpaste to relieve the zingy sensation. Seems to that we are not taking this issue seriously enough.
So we really need to start taking care of the only tool we have to eat and smile that ultimately affects our daily lives. The only way is to accomplish this is to adopt an advance oral care regime by using the right products and go for regular dental check-up.
When it comes to tooth sensitivity, Sensodyne is the only brand that comes to my mind. Thanks to their effective branding and advertising efforts, I’ve always known that Sensodyne offers a range of oral care products aimed at easing the discomfort of sensitive teeth.
But it was only until recently that I found out that Sensodyne also carries a mouthwash. In fact, Sensodyne’s newly introduced alcohol-free mouthwash is the first in the world to offer 24-hour protection against tooth sensitivity when used twice daily.

During the Sensodyne Mouthwash media launch, there was a tooth sensitivity check booth to find out if you have tooth sensitivity. Since I haver never said no to ice cream in my entire life, I thought that was an obvious answer to the question.
Unfortunately, and as much as I hate to admit it, it turned out that I actually have sensitive teeth, because even the slightest discomfort is an indication. To check it for yourself, next time when you have an ice cream, try biting into it instead of licking – if you feel any discomfort it’s likely that you have the symptoms too.
Another easier way to check is to participate in Sensodyne’s tooth sensitivity check tool online at http://www.sensodyne.com.my/tooth-sensitivity-check.aspx.
Stacy Wallace, General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare Malaysia & Brunei and Dr. Army Empol, Consultant in Restorative Dentistry officially launched Sensodyne Mouthwash at Le Meridien.

I will also admit that I don’t floss and only brush my teeth and use mouthwash after that. Since now I know that I have sensitive teeth, I am going switch to Sensodyne Mouthwash for a week to see if it makes any difference. Personally, I am very curious about the results because I have never used any specialized oral care products.
The addition of Sensodyne Mouthwash into their existing toothbrush and toothpaste means you now have the necessary tools to a complete oral care routine. More importantly, you can end tooth sensitivity as well so you can allow yourself to enjoy the pleasures of enjoying your favourite food with your family and friends.
Sensodyne Mouthwash’s active ingredient works inside the tooth to build soothing, long-lasting protection around the nerve. Its fluoride formula also strengthens teeth and the mint flavours leave your breath feeling truly fresh and clean.
The mouthwash is also halal certified so it’s safe for everyone except for children under 12. Sensodyne Mouthwash is available in 2 variants and sizes – Cool Mint (blue) and Extra Fresh (green), 250ml and 500ml.
