The KEE Resort & Spa @ Patong, Phuket

Located directly adjacent to the rowdy and happening Bangla Road, The KEE Resort & Spa is a trendy hotel at Patong that offers a clean and modern experience to couple and family travellers alike. The hotel’s design is influenced by a Sino-Portugese architecture which is unique in Thailand but familiar to us, as it bears resemblance to the early Malaccan and Penang settlements.

Standard-Pool-View-Room

The room type we got was the Deluxe Pool View. With a size of 40 sqm, it has the perfect space to accommodate two adults comfortably. Most of the amenities in the room are pretty standard and satisfies the expectations of a medium range hotel. The room’s bright and vibrant colours have a cheerful vibe that perks your mood.

Central-Lighting-Control

Next to the bed is a central digital panel that controls all the lightings in the room.

Internet-TV

But what’s really interesting to me is the smart tv which could be used to enjoy satelite tv, movies on demand, music and get connected to the Internet. A set of wireless keyboard and mouse is provided as the navigation tool so you could actually browse the web from the comfort of the bed. If you prefer your own devices the complimentary WiFi’s connection is reliable and the speed is quite fast too.

French Hotel @ Ipoh

Location is the best thing about French Hotel.

French-Hotel-Ipoh

This newly-refurbished boutique hotel is situated right smack in the center of Ipoh town and you could get to most places of interests (food wise) on foot. It costs about RM125 for a windowless, superior king room per night and I think it’s fair as long as you know what you’re getting.

The room is spacious enough just to accommodate the two of us, any smaller it’d be slightly uncomfortable. It includes the basic amenities, some which are essential to kill time such as the 32″ LCD TV with 5 Astro channels and complimentary Wifi. Breakfast is optional and you could choose either a Western or local set from the menu. We did not bother ordering any because we’re in Ipoh and there are plenty of places to eat!

Casa del Mar Resort @ Pantai Cenang, Langkawi

With rates of RM799 a night even for the most affordable room, Casa del Mar could very well be the most luxurious and expensive hotel I have stayed in. Before that, I was contemplating between Casa del Mar and Meritus Pelangi, with the latter being our preference. But since Meritus Pelangi refuse to beat the price I found on Agoda, I chose the neighbouring hotel instead. Why on earth would they choose to pay commission to Agoda instead of lowering their rates? Honestly, I wouldn’t know. I just know it’s kind of silly and that cost them a customer.

Casa-Del-Mar-Pool

Situated right on the white sandy beaches of Pantai Cenang in Langkawi, this 34 room resort offers both privacy and tranquillity in a truly stylish tropical setting. Just like The Villas, Casa del Mar also specializes at entertaining couples and adult guests only.

Casa-Del-Mar-Hotel-Room

The room type we got was the Seaview Studio Suite which could be divided into 3 sections: the outdoor terrace, bedroom and bathroom. Tasteful bed arrangements aside, the timber floored room is also furnished with a large and inviting sofa bed, a small dining table and a platter of complimentary tropical fruits.

And of course the room also features typical in-room amenities such as coffee and tea making facilities (with fresh ground coffee, not those instant 3 in 1 types), wall-mounted LCD TV, iPod docking station, cable tv channels, mini bar etc. A DVD/CD player is also provided and you could borrow titles from the library at no cost. Basically it has everything you’d have expected from a 5 star property.

The Box Chalet @ Langkawi

Accommodation is usually the most expensive part of any vacation. If given a choice, I think everyone will choose to stay at a luxurious hotel or resort over hostel and budget inns. But lets get realistic, hard-earned real money is involved and we spend most of the day visiting the attractions and by the time you retire to your accommodation, you actually don’t have much time to utilize the fancy facilities. Of course there are exceptions like when you are on a honeymoon or something where you just want hang around in the hotel itself.

The-Box-Chalet-Langkawi

We have realized long time ago that it is unnecessary to splurge on accommodation. Essentially, what we really need is a clean place with strong hot shower to rest for the day. Things like cable TV, pools, buffet breakfast, room service, mini-bar and etc are just extras.
So when we went to Langkawi we stayed spent two nights at The Box Chalet, one of the highest rated property at Agoda. For slightly less than RM100/night for two, overall it was a pleasant and value stay – I will say that it was a better experience compared to CD Lodge.
