6 To 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak @ Happy Mansion, PJ

When I first heard about 6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak, I thought they are open from 6am to 10pm. One Sunday I went the restaurant at 11am and didn’t see any customers around. Then I shat bricks. Little did I know, their business hour is actually 12pm to 2.30pm, then continued from 6pm to 10.30pm.
Being located within a rather quiet housing area, there was no where else I could go lepak while waiting for them to be ready. I couldn’t even find newspaper to read lol.

Luckily I was told that their nasi lemak was going to be available in half an hour’s time so I simply waited. It was their famous nasi lemak that I was anticipating anyway. If you don’t know, 6 to 10 Grill’s nasi lemak is well known for their rendang dishes especially pork rendang. The minced pork sambal was quite well received too. Besides, I think it is quite rare to see pork rendang and sambal made using pork, right?

Well it seemed like a bad day for me, as they were not preparing any pork rendang that day. But mutton rendang was the recommended alternative. I had no choice but to take it.
Anyway with minced pork sambal thrown in as well, this serving of nasi lemak actually cost me RM10.50. FYI that’s the defined price. Nasi lemak + 1 dish = RM7, additional 2 dishes for RM10.50 and 3 dishes for RM14. Not exactly cheap but lets see if it’s worth it.

OK the mutton rendang for me was simply awesome – tender strips of meat prepared in a thick rendang gravy, very fragrant and quite spicy as well. Luckily I took it. Basically there’s nothing to complain about unless you are turned off by the mutton’s slightly gamey smell and taste.

I didn’t really liked the minced pork sambal because one one reason only – too salty for me. And I felt it didn’t go too well as a side dish in nasi lemak. It could be good as a filling for sandwich though.

A cup of hot Nescafe dispensed from the coffee vending machine costs RM3, with sugar and creamer given separately lol. Very pricey if you ask me but the consolation was the cup was quite big la, at least noticeably bigger than the normal cup.

While waiting I got nothing better to do than snapping the menu.. lol. So if you are curious about their Western food menu, I hope this helps!

Overall the nasi lemak was quite good albeit being more expensive than normal. I would certainly be a return customer solely for the mutton rendang alone, and I just had to try the pork rendang that eluded me. Besides nasi lemak, I also heard some good things about the Grill Pork Chop with Pineapple Sauce from the Western Food menu, should be quite worthy to try as well in my next visit.
