I have been in and out of KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital recently and I needed a place for a quick meal. So who better to ask than the hospital staff?
After all, they are the ones working in the area and should know the best (and economical) places to eat. Turns out there’s a really good nasi kukus ayam berempah in the row of food stalls just outside the hospital.

Here’s what you get for RM6 – a quarter fried chicken on a large serving of steamed rice with kuah campur. The nasi kukus is expertly cooked to a fluffy perfection and had a shiny appearance.
Since the chicken is freshly fried, it’s hot and crackling-crispy on the outside while the meat underneath is extremely tender and ultra moist. It’s oh-so-satisfying to see the juice ooze from the meat when you cut into it. Flavor wise, I have to say it’s wonderful, not too salty and you can taste the blend of spices in every bite.
Besides delicious ayam berempah, the kuah is equally important as well. The kuah campur is a mix of curries, sambal and pineapple that renders an appetizing, spicy and tangy taste in the rice.
If you have a high tolerance for spicy food, you should definitely ask for more sambal. I think you will appreciate the kick.
