Anuar’s Fish Head Curry (Bangsar Fish Head Corner) is a food stall at Lucky Garden that commands a large customer base thanks to two of their signature dishes: fish head curry and mamak-style fried chicken.
They are extremely busy especially during lunch hours and a long queue is a normal sight. Luckily the service is quick so the line moves fairly quick. The aroma of seasoning and spices immediately hits you before you even reach the stall. Batches and batches of chicken are fried non-stop to cater to the crowd.

In addition to fish head curry and fried chicken, there are also fried ikan kembung, squid and simple vegetable dish such as bean sprouts. If unspecified, teh o ais will be served as the default beverage. Among the dishes we had, the fried chicken simply has to come up tops because the rest were nothing too spectacular.
Although the fried chicken looks kind of dry, it was surprisingly juicy on the inside and the spice marinade really made the difference. It was fragrant with the right balance of seasoning (some come off too salty).

Anuar Fish Head Curry

For me, the fish head curry was just so-so but it seemed to be quite a popular item judging from the number of people taking away this dish. I found the curry taste to be average at best and the fish head flesh’s texture too crumbly and soft to be enjoyed.

All in all the meal cost us a little over RM60, which is quite expensive if you ask me. But the overall experience could have been better and more price worthy if we omitted the fish head curry. That said, Anuar’s fish head curry is worth a visit just for the fried chicken alone.
