Reminisce is an interesting cafe in Mid Valley Megamall. Since SL and I were born in the 80’s, we can relate to the retro bits and pieces used to decorate the cafe. As soon as we step through the door, we were overwhelmed by nostalgia.
This place effectively brought back the simpler times of our childhood when kids played outside, read comics, drank Coca Cola from a glass bottle and we even woke up early in the weekends to watch our favorite cartoons on CRT TVs. If you are around the same age as me, I am sure you’d enjoy the nice walk down the memory lane here.
Food wise, I am impressed by the variety on the menu. There’s hardly anything you can’t find may it be Western, local or single portion Chinese rice dishes.
A friend who tagged along absolutely loves chicken chop so he had the signature Pan Fried Chicken Chop with Pumpkin Gravy (黄金右脚) @ RM19.90.
Our first impression was that the serving size is huge and matches what is shown in the menu. As you can see, the whole chicken thigh takes up approximately half of the plate so it will fill up the hungriest bellies.
The chicken was skillfully cooked with a crispy skin without any char and paired well with the creamy pumpkin gravy. All in all, a great alternative to the usual mushroom/brown/black pepper chicken chop.
I had the Nasi Lemak @ RM22.90 which is accompanied by a couple of side dishes like chicken curry, sambal sotong, chicken satay complete with all the works.
The chicken curry has got to be the star side dish, it even comes in a quarter portion. The overall taste is quite unique as it has a lighter consistency, a strong turmeric flavor as opposed to being rich and spicy.
We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the satay. It was tender, nicely marinated and delicious even without peanut sauce.
Based on the reviews left by other customers, the Butter Pork Belly with Steamed Rice @ RM17.90 is one of the must order here.
We took the recommendation seriously, and I could only say that it was spot on. If you like savory food, this would be the perfect choice.
We also had the “Pasar Malam” Wok Fried Carrot Cake @ RM10.90 to share. The moment it reached our table we knew it was the real deal judging by the aroma alone. Not to mention it looked great as well.
It had sufficient wok hei and tasted on par, if not better than what you get at the pasar malam stalls. However, I’d have enjoyed it more if the carrot cake cubes were smaller.

I am sure most of us grew up eating luncheon meat, whether in sandwich or at ‘chap fan’ stalls. Here, a full can of it is sliced up into finger-long strips @ RM13.90. You can think of it as lunchon meat ‘fries’.
As for drinks, you can expect the familiar stuff like herbal tea, soya bean, cincau and calamansi juice. We liked the calamansi juice with sour plum @ RM5.50 the most, it was refreshingly delicious with the right amount of sweetness.
For something special, you could try the Soya Black Cincau Drink with Homemade Soya Jelly (七龙珠与功夫熊猫) @ RM8.90. It’s so eye-catching in the menu that we simply had to see it for ourselves. Taste wise it’s exactly like what you’d expect, but the soya jellies are really good.

Starting from RM14.90, Reminisce’s set lunch is available between 11am and 5pm daily. There are 40 different choices and every set comes with a cold drink and dessert of the day.
I think this is one of the best deals you can get in this area. They have many other promotions going on as well so check out their Facebook page for more info.
Reminisce also has a branch in Puchong at Setiawalk.
