Charlie Brown Cafe Coffee

Do kids know Snoopy or Peanuts nowadays? I doubt there are a lot. But for us who grew up during the time when smartphones and tablets did not even exist, I believe it was just as popular as Angry Birds. I have to admit I am a little too old to relish in Charlie Brown Cafe now but I do know that if I was here when I was a kid, I bet I would have had a great time running around and hugging the life-sized statues of Snoopy and the gang. Well, the cruel truth is that I am way past a kid hence so my focus now is more on the food, price and service rendered.

First of all, ordering is self service here but the food and drinks will be delivered to your table. Menu choices are pretty sad because they are very kopitiam-ish and overpriced. So we decided to just sample a few cakes and beverages instead. They are not cheap too!

cheese-cake

The cutest cheese cake you will ever see – Espresso Cheese Cake @ RM9.5. I tried my best not to eat Woodstock but I failed. It tasted like artificially colored sugar, nothing less nothing more.

tiramisu

Charlie Brown Tiramisu @ RM12. Cute, that is all I can say.

Luckily the drinks are not too bad and they look really nice too. Each cuppa comes with a different cartoon character coffee art on the foam. For example, Lucy appears on the hot Latte (RM9.50) while it is Wookstock for the Mocha (RM11). Makes you feel reluctant to drink or even stir them, doesn’t it?

When I look at Charlie Brown Cafe, I am reminded of McDonald’s in the 80’s when they still had the mascots in the outlet. I am talking about the one in Komtar, do you remember? Anyway, more photos of the cafe..

To my knowledge there are two operating Charlie Brown Cafe in Malaysia now, one in Straits Quay which is also the first outlet (pic above) and another at KLCC. I read somewhere that the third will be opening soon at Setia Walk, Puchong. Even though the food and cakes are pricey and no where close to being good or memorable, the cafe is still a nice hang out place for families with kids thanks to the cute and colorful theme.
