Are you ready to join the latest queue in town? This time it’s at Chateraise located at KLCC‘s Isetan Food Market. Chateraise is an immensely popular patisserie in Japan with more than 460 stores opened there.
The store originated from Yamanashi Prefecture – a landlocked prefecture known for its fertile central valley and high quality produce. These premium ingredients which even include the waters of Mount Fuji are then sourced and used to make their famous pastries and sweets.
Since we dropped by during a public holiday, the queue was extra long and many of their signature items were already sold out by 3pm. Fortunately the queue moves quite fast thanks to their efficient system.
In fact, we didn’t mind the queue at all because it gave us time to decide which cake or dessert to buy. Before you know it, it’s already your turn.
We bought 4 items which came to a total of RM49.20 (no GST yet) that included a Double Fantasy (RM4.80 – double cream puff of fresh milk and egg custard cream), White Zebra (RM14.80 – Vanilla flavored Mille Crepe), Mixberry Rare Cheese Cake @ RM14.80 and a Mango Tart @ RM14.80.
As you can see, the prices are at least 20-30% higher than what you’d getting at the higher end bakeries. But considering the location and the fact that the pastries are imported directly from Japan, it’s a fair price to pay. Overall the pastries are delicious except for their cream puff, which might not taste exactly as you imagined.
Lastly, do note that Chateraise’s products are not recommended for Muslims’ consumption because of alcohol content.
