Chou Shun Kan is a Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant located at Laman Rimbunan Kepong. We went in without great expectations but were pleasantly surprised by their quality of food especially the various fresh offerings of meat for grilling purpose. The menu, as expected, is priced more or less in the mid-range.
Here’s what you will get for the RM88+ set L (2-pax serving including rice, soup, kimchi and vege) which has a good mix of seafood, beef and pork. Most of the meats are pre-marinated with their in-house sauce and thinly sliced into bite sized portions.
Jyo Karubi (Special boneless beef short rib) – just look at the beautiful marbling and you’d know your palate is in for a heavenly treat.
Pork shoulder – juicy and tender, not as tender as the short rib though. When cooked, these taste like Char Siew ala Japanese style.
Ebi – fresh and succulent sea prawns that are absolutely sweet and delicious.
Shiitake @ only RM6. I highly recommend this to complement your meal because Shiitake is not cheap, yet they are affordably priced here. Besides, the grilled Shiitake tastes really awesome.
You could have the grilled meat with rice or wrap them in the lettuce. Both ways are equally enjoyable but I prefer eating it as a lettuce wrap, just like those Korean BBQ.
We liked the food so much that we ended up ordering an extra set of Pork Moriawase @ RM30. It’s like Sashimi Moriawase but you get a platter of pork of various cuts instead. The portion is actually large enough to be shared between two so you could actually get this set if you don’t feel like spending too much.
Likes: Delicious Japanese grilled meat, good service, nice ambiance, wide selection of sets
Dislikes: Additional lettuce is chargeable
