Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant @ Bukit Tambun

Now that I have relocated to the Klang Valley, I haven’t been to Bukit Tambun for seafood as frequent as I used to. In the recent years there has been a sprout of new seafood restaurants just after the toll exit which specialize in Claypot Crab Rice. Among them, Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant is the biggest player here in terms of restaurant size and customer count. My previous and also first visit to Cia Xiang was good hence the return.


This is what they are famous for – Claypot Crab Rice (蟹王香饭) @ RM48. There is a minimum order of 2 pax which is more than enough to be shared among four people.


Taste wise it is quite predictable like any claypot rice out there. Besides using crab instead of meat, dried shrimps and a lot of onions are in place instead of salted fish. But to be honest the crab’s fragrance in the rice is quite minimal that it is almost non-existant.


Steamed Grouper (清蒸石斑) @ RM69, it is fresh so I guess that is all that matters when it comes to steamed fish.


Deep Fried Prawn with Grape Juice (葡萄虾) @ RM35 is another signature dish of Cia Xiang’s. The prawns are are battered first before being deep fried so the shells are actually quite crunchy and can be eaten if you want. This refreshing combination of ingredients actually works really well together and worth trying especially if you are bored with the usual butter or oat prawns.


The Grilled Crabs (2 for RM50) were great on my first visit. In fact they were so delicious that I started to crave for it badly after I went back to KL. Because of this I went on a crab hunting spree at various seafood restaurants in KL – desperate to find one that could match this. Unfortunately, it tasted different this time round, as it was slightly overcooked and the crabs were not as huge and as meaty as I remembered. Well, despite the misses, the grilled crabs are still quite good, just not as awesome as the previous visit.


Sugar cane juice is sold here @ RM9 per bottle and I quite liked it. It is no doubt a bit pricey but you can taste the pureness and thickness of the sugar cane juice with no added sugar or water.


Cia Xiang Seafood Restaurant is extremely easy to find. As soon as you exit Bukit Tambun’s toll plaza you will surely come to a roundabout. Take the 12 o’clock exit and you will see this huge restaurant on your right.
